When there are not pre-arranged draws. There are very few Grandmasters that will take undue risks these days, especially with the black pieces.

Yeah, looking back at Svidler's game from 2011... 26...Re2!! instead of 26...Qg3? straightaway was genius, distracting the Queen from the defense of c6, his only defense against mate on g2 in that continuation. The knock-out format really has been more exciting and has brought chess more notoriety overall, especially with the shorter time controls.

It is more likely that there will be remote assistance via some type of hand held communications device. That is why laptops and what not are usually prohibited.
