Sure the Chicken has done his time and ex-doper, team officials like Riis will always be more forgiving of recent dopers. It makes sense, a good fit. Dunno why they don't have teams where the only prerequisite is to be an ex-doper. There are enough of them currently riding to make a team or two. Two year bans.................well that was obviously a huge deterrent. What a joke.

If I was a DS I'd take lots of ex-dopers as long as they aren't black listed. Some of these ex-dopers are talented riders even without the dope and they're cheap as hell because not a lot of teams want them, so they're desperate. Make them sign a clause that if they're caught with dope again they have to pay a fine that equals their yearly pay check. Perhaps even 2 years. Only if they get caught with serious stuff though. Nowadays you can get caught with dope for the smallest of things.

Then perhaps they'd think twice of doping again.

IMO the Chicken is Overcooked-& frankly he's not the same rider he was back in 07. the other factor is his reputation among Pro-Cycling-personality wise- always full of doubts & lack of trust from others, etc.
If Riis wants to give him a chance, he has to find a way to straight his act & get serious with his whereabouts & team objectives.. otherwise & don't see Contador approving the move at all

Also they'll ride to die cuz they'll want to be in the top again!!!

Hello,
I'm Danish and will give my opinion on MR ..
I think most forget that MR has been ridding for Riis as it was called CSC / Tiscali and it was not the great success, MR did not fit into Riis team spirit.
I can also remember the press conference in 2007, can we trust you, yes, you can trust me, what if Riis asks him about the same, can I trust you, yes you can. Hmmm.

Yes, MR deserves a chance but I do not think he gets it from Riis.

Alberto Contador says this about Michael Rasmussen to danish television (TV2): Michael Rasmussen is a rider, which I think has paid for the situation he was previously in. He is a rider who has already achieved much, but it is Riis who must make the decision.

So green light from Bjarne Riis, UCI and now Contador... Seriously, sign him already...

As I understand it, there's no indication that Riis actually wants to sign him.

Ever heard about Rock Racing? If you want to know why they're not racing anymore, take a look in the clinic :)

Though I'm not a fan of MR, any man deserves the right to practice his craft, and from what I remember, he wasn't caught with dope or blood bags; he just would not explain his whereabouts. Will he help AC? Of course, until he gets his form back, then he will ride for himself as much as he can, just like Vino did.

Too bad, would have liked to see him start the Vuelta, if only to make sure he is in better shape next year

Totally agree; he need racing kms especially as he's not that young anymore.

nothing interesting. He's just commenting that he's looking forward to the race, despite the lack of hills/mountains.

Agree, totally. Please, lets ban these idiots for life. Who wants to see some "x-doper" riding in the peloton. Let's play by the rules. Where is all this "he done his time" bs coming from any way. Basso's Giro victory was so refreshing. It does such justice to the sport. It is so believable! I will be very sorry for Alberto if Riis signs Rasmussen.

Long time after Le Tour he was positive for DynEPO (I think) like Dekker...

Another thing I haven't thought about. Michael Rasmussen speaks fluently spanish, english and danish, and it would be very important to have a rider who can translate the spanish to danish/english and vice versa. He learnt it when he was in Mexico... Oh wait! :)

'Rasmussen på standby Riis holder stadig Michael Rasmussen i uvished'

Bjarne Riis, who had already declared that Michael Rasmussen "deserves a second chance, still plans to recruit the yellow jersey of the Tour in 2007.
"I have not yet made a final decision but," he said, while he is still actively recruiting.
The arrival of Danish rider does not cost Riis a penny, as a personal sponsor, Christina Hembo, is to pay for everything. "My offer to all ProTour teams has not changed. I cover all the salaries of Michael Rasmussen in 2011. In other words, you can probably have one of the best climbers for free", reaffirmed the owner of the watch brand "Christina Design London.

And that American guy who told about how Chicken wanted him to bring a box of 'shoes' to Italy and it turned out to be Hemopure. 2002/3 that was meant to be.
