He did his current level at Alps Maritimes and 3 first days of Dauphiné., and he was to be one of the strongers today.
He's looked ridiculous since the Vuelta '11. No other rider has looked more ridiculous......ever. He looked normal before Aug 11 and has looked normal since '20.Why is Froome going along with the legendary PlSSTAKE (Rackham TM)?
There was merit in trying to make a comeback. But the drivel being spouted by him about improving is making him look ridiculous.
Or maybe he was pushing himself too much and that enabled him to get sick easier.

There were a lot of people pushing themselves too hard in March then.
Whoever quoted 15-1 needs to find another line of work, probably a misprint, more like 150-1.........Chris Froome's odds to win the TDF went from 15 to 1 before the dauphine (I can't imagine someone stupid enough to bet that) to now 200 to 1. Lots of confidence was lost in Froome after this past weeks poor showing.
Shouldn't the fact that it's "lot of people" hint that it's not from pushing anything too hard?
IPT had 3 riders abandon due to illness in the Dauphine, isn't that a hint it's not from pushing too hard?
He was ill. He has showed Dauphine 2021 that he was better in the last stages, It has no sense this year he is worse than last year..he was at the level he showed in Alpes Maritimes at the begining of Dauohine. He started to be worse from the ITT, clearly for an illness,,, He is especially strong at recoveryI agree, that's not unlikely.
That was his level for a one-day race and a few days at the beginning of a stage race. It's a different story to have the endurance and recovery to make the same effort for a sustained period, though.
Okay, so minutes off the pace on every stage is his new normal. He was ill. He will probably be working for Woods.Mont Ventoux desnivel Challenge
I thought his super power was that he could train so much harder than everyone else. Wait…is it possible that wasn’t true? I’m stunned.Or maybe he was pushing himself too much and that enabled him to get sick easier.
Did they? The only illness I’ve seen stated from the team are Froome and Piccoli who did not DNF.IPT had 3 riders abandon due to illness in the Dauphine, isn't that a hint it's not from pushing too hard?
In a normal team he would not be selected for the Tour. IPT = #bikeracerretirementhomeSurely Froome wont be selected for the Tour ..He came to the Dauphine to fight for selection but that hasn't panned out
If ISN want to pay Froome millions for a never to be full filled come back and he wants to ride around in the hope he can do it well that is fine but the the non fairytale version is that at 37 years old and after severe injury he is not going to be competitive again (ie fighting for a podium) at a Grand Tour
I am all for the power of positive thinking but sooner or later one has to be realistic and face facts otherwise you look ridiculous
Surely there are others things he can be doing with his life and he cant need the money
If you have been a champion you usually leave the stage with some dignity
