Or maybe he was pushing himself too much and that enabled him to get sick easier.

I agree, that's not unlikely.

He did his current level at Alps Maritimes and 3 first days of Dauphiné., and he was to be one of the strongers today.

That was his level for a one-day race and a few days at the beginning of a stage race. It's a different story to have the endurance and recovery to make the same effort for a sustained period, though.

He was ill. He has showed Dauphine 2021 that he was better in the last stages, It has no sense this year he is worse than last year..he was at the level he showed in Alpes Maritimes at the begining of Dauohine. He started to be worse from the ITT, clearly for an illness,,, He is especially strong at recovery

Surely Froome wont be selected for the Tour ..He came to the Dauphine to fight for selection but that hasn't panned out

If ISN want to pay Froome millions for a never to be full filled come back and he wants to ride around in the hope he can do it well that is fine but the the non fairytale version is that at 37 years old and after severe injury he is not going to be competitive again (ie fighting for a podium) at a Grand Tour

I am all for the power of positive thinking but sooner or later one has to be realistic and face facts otherwise you look ridiculous
Surely there are others things he can be doing with his life and he cant need the money
If you have been a champion you usually leave the stage with some dignity

In a normal team he would not be selected for the Tour. IPT = #bikeracerretirementhome

However, if they are paying him to ride, as @Libertine Seguros noted, then he should absolutely ride and make as much money as he can while he can. It's Adams' issue if this is a bad deal for him.

imo he would be competitive if he had the capacity to get a top-20. and it would be good for him, but he'll hardly be able to pull that one out in the vuelta, let alone in the tour
