None of the riders around his place actually trying for GC - they all have duties and partial jobs/targets through the Tour so his place as a rider with zero duties for the team is irrelevant. His position in the GC is around domestics and support riders only that he does not have such obligations. He's just dead weight which personally I wouldn't mind (if his team is willing to pay for that) if it was not for his constant delusional BS he's putting out (15w missing from top level, on the good track, promising test results, etc...) Sigh...

I think today is going to be very difficult for Froome. The action will start on Galibier & he's likely to get thrown into dropped groups real fast, at which point he becomes a passenger among riders who're just aiming to make the time cut.

The problem he has is one which has been spoken of loads of times, i.e. as soon as the tempo increases, he drops.

So far none of this is happening

Because he jumped ahead at the top of the Galibier (when not much was happening in the peloton aka no real action) & he worked with Tom Pidcock (& his amazing descending skills) to join the breakaway. But people shouldn't kid themselves, i.e. when Froome is in the peloton, he gets dropped when they accelerate.

I don't know why a plucky breakaway would suddenly change all that. Good spectacle though, i.e. a totally boring stage which Froome has given some interest. So he gets 'cool factor' points for that.

Bike style is still an eyesore though.

Completely off the prediction you made that he would be thrown out the back today.
