maybe I'm not getting the jokes, but haven't the Froome can win, or Froome GC check jokes stopped being funny, well, 2 years ago or more?

Yeah maybe, but he was basically lying to every fan for years about his level. Finding one unlikely excuse for his poor performance after another. It was quite disingenious imo. I watched about every video he made on his chanel. Every time before a race he said he was riding strong and was looking forward to the next race where he got completely humiliated. Then it was the confident talk before each race followed by the same "Dusting off the cobwebs" "getting that racing pace back" , "finding that left right power balance" "the equipement is not perfect" "the position is wrong" "just had a cold" excuse after the results showed the truth. But next race....maybe I'm not getting the jokes, but haven't the Froome can win, or Froome GC check jokes stopped being funny, well, 2 years ago or more?
I'm just disappointed that we won't reach 1000 pages for the one of the best GC riders of all time. He is going to accomplish nothing until his retirement next year (but really he should make 2024 his last).maybe I'm not getting the jokes, but haven't the Froome can win, or Froome GC check jokes stopped being funny, well, 2 years ago or more?
This deadwood watch has been going on for amazingly long, can't imagine any other champion will have such a loving treatment from the forum for such a pointless part of a long career, too bad we won't have time for 150 pages moreI'm just disappointed that we won't reach 1000 pages for the one of the best GC riders of all time. Yes, but he was lying about basically everything since September of 2011. Nothing changed after his accident. He's a complete fraud.Yeah maybe, but he was basically lying to every fan for years about his level.
It’s more the watching-a-train-wreck type humor that still applies as long as he’s still posting with smiles and optimism (or delusion) about improvements he’s making.maybe I'm not getting the jokes, but haven't the Froome can win, or Froome GC check jokes stopped being funny, well, 2 years ago or more?
Why did he start to perform so poorly only after the accident if nothing changed?Nothing changed after his accident. He's a complete fraud.
No such thing as lying in pro racing.. You can be gifted a race here or there, sure. Froome has no form or fanfare. And because of rapid implosion of numerous cycling components, few remember Sky or that he was good in 2016, 2017.. Most of any cheerleading for Froome died out years ago.. Don't know where he calls home, but in the US he would have his agent sending resume to Dancing w the Stars or some show were marginal celebrity type go for one more bite at the apple.Yeah maybe, but he was basically lying to every fan for years about his level. Two years is a bit much. It's only one year and 4 months since his infamous "I was ready for the Tour" video where he claimed that a mechanical stood between him and showing big results. His level was really good he claimed - but we can read a results sheet...and so he could just be honest for a change. I was a fan for years btw. Felt disappointed about his communication until, well right now when he finally says it as it is.
Froome did what any one of us would have done - signed the best contract on offer. To suggest he's not a worker is revionist nonsense. He's hustled like mad to get from kid in Africa to cycling legend. He's worked selflessly for others on occasions to good effect too. What was he supposed to have done? Not taken the money? Anyone on here gonna swear on the life of their first born that wouldn't have done the same?No such thing as lying in pro racing.. You can be gifted a race here or there, sure. Froome went up front the other day took some hard pulling kilometers and then finished @20 seconds back. His time has passed. His team should feel ashamed that he gave a public interview proclaiming that he is not trying to win..we can only hope that there is some kind of salary deferment, because if his contract numbers are near correct or accurate he is getting paid to ride in the bus, eat and wear the kit, nothing more.
The evil inverse of Froome is Robert Gesink, guy was always a worker, has never been dead weight on any team.. Class exit..
Nothing changed after breaking many bones by hitting a wall at high speed? You really believe that?Any update to this thread stopped being relevant 2 years ago, that seems clear.

I just can't agree with this. On what basis can anyone make this claim?Nothing changed after his accident
I agree with that, he has a bit of Armstrong essence were he does zero talking on the bike, makes not a statement about his job, bike racing, but still finds time and outlets interested in him saying that he has no aspirations, no standard goals for... racing his bike, his career, his job.Froome did what any one of us would have done - signed the best contract on offer. He's a specialist as Red Flanders points out!!Nothing changed after breaking many bones by hitting a wall at high speed? You really believe that?
None of that debunks the point. Of course Froome won't get back to his old level - he's 40! But Israel–Premier Tech are paying him. There is no fraud here, only a business risk taken by IPT which is now becoming worn out. If they have fallen for the yarn that's their problem.I agree with that, he has a bit of Armstrong essence were he does zero talking on the bike, makes not a statement about his job, bike racing, but still finds time and outlets interested in him saying that he has no aspirations, no standard goals for... racing his bike, his career, his job.
So that pull he took for a few minutes in a race in China may qualify as contract fulfillment to you, respect your point of view. To me, my opinion, not revisionist but real that Froome is a rolling, breathing mannequin, he is a place holder. He is taking up contract headroom that could sign multiple, qualified, quality riders.
Froome while a legend in Africa or maybe China is a joke elsewhere,
What that is after 2019 is called flat line, riding dead...no activity.. Paid like a rider who is alive..Chris Froome
Chris Froome (born 1985-05-20 in Nairobi) is a professional road racing cyclist from Great Britain, currently riding for Israel - Premier Tech. His best results are 4 wins in GC Tour de France and 2 wins in GC Vuelta a España.www.procyclingstats.com
Jeez, this is pro cycling. If you could point out the deepfakes from the honest customers, that would be appreciated. He was the OG deepfake.
Perhaps not—BUT we can point out someone making cloying, sometimes condescending, and perhaps delusional comments and videos about his improving capabilities, doing so over and over again, for the general media and his social media followers.Jeez, this is pro cycling. Yup. & we have every right to be utterly aghast when the dude who earns five million euros a year has zero pride in his job. He was one of the best time trialists in the world, & now he's missing time cuts in a 10k team trial. In Rwanda.Froome did what any one of us would have done - signed the best contract on offer. Froome made alot of money at SKY ...millions in fact . He didn't need the ISN money and no I do not agree anyone of us would have done it. I am sure Contador or Spartacus or Boonen could have kept on cycling for a team with a big pay check and dialled it in but they didn't. They were proud of their achievements and wanted to keep their legacy in tact. And I guess they knew not to promise a team results and then go no where near to delivering anything . This is distastefulFroome did what any one of us would have done - signed the best contract on offer. To suggest he's not a worker is revionist nonsense.
