Wiggins strikes me as normal and even insightful for decent stretches, then invariably shatters the illusion with some idiotic comment or another. That one reads like a "gotta pump British interest in the Tour" kind of comment. Laughable.

Sometimes I think Bradley just makes fun of Chris with comments like that. As we know, they weren't the best friends in the old times.

I think you'll find that "new generation" came though two years ago at least Brad, but thanks for using the words "opportunity" "Tour" and "Chris Froome" in the same sentence...........We could all use a laugh at this time.

Wiggins is the best… He is just a special person, always has been, always will be

What I like most about his personality is that you often do not know a 100 percent if he‘s serious, or if he‘s joking a little bit. Same with his comment on Froome here.

Today, Chris finished 74th on Stage 2 of the Coppi e Bartali. He was amongst a large group that finished 21.09mins behind stage winner Ethan Hayter.
Maybe he's just getting his race-pace legs back or as Chris himself likes to say: "Getting back in the rhythm of the racing."

Leopold Konig had 8 racing days in 2018 and zero racing days in 2019, but his contract with Bora lasted and was valid until end 2019 as he had signed.

Konig also wasn’t making as much as Froome, was on the team after the injury happened, and Froome had a whole year of non improving before signing and all parties were expecting results. Those results haven’t come, he hasn’t even finished inside the top 20 of anything while Konig did. All he has been is a big name that is there and bringing news from his disappointment like Cav was during those 3 years.

He finished almost 15 minutes behind the stage winner Schmid in the first stage.
And only 5 minutes behind Schmid in the second stage.
Today he should finish 5 minutes ahead of Schmid.

Of course Schmid might finish 30 minutes down.

Finishing ahead of a rider is better than finishing behind. It don’t matter if it’s an inch or a mile.

I think Froome has been in a real dilemma since his bad crash in the Dauphine. On the one hand, he is kind of a living legend, and so avoids (or: has to avoid) speaking about medical details too much. You don‘t speak about weaknesses - even less so if you are Froome.

On the other hand, without knowing medical details, we (as the public) can hardly or cannot judge what his racing results from after the crash are worth.

Maybe his body is so permanently injured/damaged, that a „+21min“ stage finish in Coppi&Bartali is a bigger athletic accomplishment than winning a MTF in the TdF before the crash was…

We just don‘t know. I, however, could imagine that Froomey (after retiring) will describe to us what this crash did to his body, and what the reasons are/were that his performances deteriorated so drastically after the crash…
