He did finish in the bunch.
He lost 8 seconds today. How’s he going to be competitive in the TDF when he can’t hold the wheel of riders like group one of tge TdR? Teddy Pogie leads out his sprinters and still finishes with the same time. Froome leads out Nadav Reisberg or something and gets dropped? This is the Tour of Rwanda for Pete’s sake. If he can’t give us some false hope here, then he truly needs to hang ‘em up.

Depends on what you mean by "competitive". He might win a mountain stage if the breakaway only consists of guys like Kristoff or Jakobsen.

He did ok in TDF last year until forced out due to illness but I'd be very surprised if he does anything of note this year. I now watch him in hope rather than expectation.

After today's 4th stage the Tour du Rwanda, that included three First Category climbs, Chris Froome finds himself in a creditable 21st position overall, 1min8secs down on the leader.
I predicted he would finish around 45th once the eight stages are completed.
He is outperforming my forecast at the moment and with half the race to go and plenty of climbing I hope that continues.

OK compared to what exactly? Props for the ride at Alpe d’huez but this doesn’t even look like rider who is just past his best. This guy won 7 GTs, and now looks like Greg LeMond at the Tour de Trump all year round. His climbing form is closer to Mario Cipoollini than Claudio Chiappucci these days.

The guy had a horrendous accident three years ago and it’s a blessing that he can still ride, but for Christ’s sake, do something Froome.

Actually is best performance wasn't alpe d huez. His best performance was stage 16, on mur de peguere. On that stage he finished 31 th with the same time of pinot, lutsenko, mas. He finish 2min and 40 seconds behind pogacar and vingegaard. Clearly he was getting better. Then, he was infected by coronavirus.

If one of his legs is still longer than the other, it might be difficult for him to ride in a straight line*

*That should of course not influence the Strava file too much
that yesterday stage. He put something before the stage..but anyway his strava yesterday didnt work very well....today ok.

Finally he was 24th, losing 4 minutes, after 2 mechanicals in a rainy day. About 60 Km of solo attack in one of the Queen stages. the hardest in elevation gained with difference.

I think he is in condition to win the stage tomorrow. He has to know when to move as he is not in the figh for GC. Not easy but he can try.

The team is just 2 riders now.

Looking at his strava, he has his Bike stopped with the two puntures on the long climb and the fall of the descent, when he was just droped: 50,30 and 15 second.
So other way I think I could have at leat be on the main group at the end after a long breakaway.
