Of course it does not compare to a pro win, a goal he is still seeking entering what may be the final goal of his season, but Froome was able to raise his arms at the end of the Gran Fondo Sun Moon Lake at the end of the 104 mountainous kilometers.

Does his contract require him to actually turn up in his last season to be paid or can he just stay at home and pick up the money?

That's making a bit of an assumption, although probably justified at WT level!

I think they'll let him do the last Tour just for nostalgia's sake

I doubt he'll do any major races, at all. He said he wanted to retire after the Vuelta 2025 but come on let's be real, IPT aren't sending a 40 year old Froomey to the Vuelta in August.

He stayed on too long way past the point of no return whereby even 'functional' performance levels are a pipe dream. I bet the money was good though so he's still laughing all the way to the bank.

But it's certainly not a champion's exit.

wouldn't surprise me if he does romandie, or the vuelta. the tour not so much, but then again, what's the goal of his team GC wise? maybe a top-10 with fuglsang at most?
