What have they been doing? Has Rasmussen gotten any results? Only time I've heard his name was in relation to the latest doping investigation.

They've been quite successfull on the national level with Michael Reihs winning a 1.2-race and a lot of top 10-results in other races. But nothing outstanding from Rasmussen and Furlan. Which is a good thing.

Furlan has won at least 2-3 national level races; the team has essentially become a Danish version of HTC.
Nothing outstanding from Rasmussen so far.

I'm a Rasmussen fan, but does anyone else find them getting in the Giro to be unrealistic? I'd love to know why they think they can get in when the UCI blocks everything they do.

I think the people who find it the most unrealistic are the Giro organisers.

Yeah I'd think so too. They are playing it well though and made me wonder if they had some kind of deal worked out.

Rasmussen was beaten by a bunch of Norwegian amateurs in the MTF in Nordfjell GP (think he was 9th), so he isn't exactly in his 2007 shape.

add to that the Danish Cycing Federation who worked hard to get the Giro to Denmark and we have the chicken watching along with me on the road side.

I wouldn't dismiss CWO at the Giro entirely.
After all, Team Type 1 wasn't far away from getting an invitation this year, and they've been Continental until this year.
But for CWO to get into the Giro, several things would have to happen:
1) Bigger names. Reihs and René Jørgensen won't do you any good with Zomegnan. Furlan might, but he's just one man.
2) To sign those bigger names, you need more money, Hembo says so himself. I can't see Christina Watches or Onfone putting in 5 times as much money as now.

Even if they got the money, became Professional Continental for 2012 and signed some better riders (whoever that might be), they'd still have to compete with the Italian teams and several others for one of the four wild cards.
Essentially, all this talk (actually, almost all the talk about/from the team) is PR. Staying in the media and in people's minds.

Also, he fell early in the stage and finished with blood all over his left leg.

I have no idea why Rasmussen keeps talking about riding the Giro. Both he and his team are far from good enough.

that will never happen. the team doesn't have the license and won';t be getting a pro tour license either. and as for wildcards they are given to italian teams and even then they need to be pct, which I don't see happening

Rasmussen, Hembo and co. are all just posturing, basically because they need to be PCT to get into the Giro, and to be PCT they need more money. But if they convince people they have a chance of getting into the Giro they might be able to get more sponsors on board, or more riders.

As Ryo states, Italian teams are more likely to get the invites. However, they are hoping for a token Danish presence, the same way as how Vacansoleil were able to get themselves invited to the '09 Vuelta. Unfortunately for them, their being invited to the Giro was already more unrealistic than Vacansoleil's hope of being invited to the Vuelta even before we take into consideration that the Giro snubbed all the Dutch teams - almost all of which are stronger than CWO - in 2010.
