Would Albert ever consider moving permanently to the road? He's a bit good at 'Cross, but then they said Stybar was considering it.

As a cross fan, I hope they'll never do that. The cross needs them and I hope Boom will consider coming back to World Cup and/or Superprestige events, soon. And why not Sagan, as well. ;)

Stybar is highly underrated on the road though. Good sprint but can also decently climb. I think he was top10 in the Giro delle Regioni a few years back. But now he rather focuses on MTB in summer.

Pauwels is also a great climber (showed it in Lerida 2007) and has a good sprint. :)

Yeah, Albert has won some small races in France and Spain, races considering his age he shouldn't even be riding in. Albert really hasn't shown anything on the road to suggest he would be more than a decent domestique.

Why on earth should pro riders of 24 not be allowed to 2.2? Only in Belgium are the pros kept from them and the crossers did not appreciate that. They have to ride in summer and stage races are the best preparation for the winters.

Albert was 5th in last year's queen stage of the Tour of Belgium and was really strong in the climbs (16th in the GC).

As a junior and as a U23 Albert raced about 10 road races each season and won about 8 of them. Anyone knows he's a multi talent.

I never said he shouldn't be allowed to race in a 2.2. But those races are mostly for young talents and failed pro's. Results in races like that at age 24 are hardly indicative for a succesful pro career. We were discussing Albert's prospects as a pro on the road, all I'm saying is that a stage win in the Circuito Montanes is very little reason to suspect he would be a great pro.

His results in the Tour of Belgium last year were pretty good, comparable with Walsleben's this year. But this discussion is highly theoretical of course, Albert isn't going to throw away the millions of euro's he can earn in cyclo cross for the off chance he will be a good or great pro on the road.
