Rabobank CT has a reputation to uphold here. Although I think it will be hard to win again this year.

Their previous winners were Gesink, Mollema and Van Garderen...
Now there best man is probably Tom Jelte Slagter and I can't really see him beat guys like Alex Cano.
I wonder what Niels Albert can do as well.

I'm curious to see what Jose Herrada and Ion Izagirre can do. Seems that a lot of the young Spanish climbing talents are missing, though.

What type of rider is Joeri Adams? I recall seing his name several times on race rankings, but if he's primarily a regular sprinter, he probably won't make waves in this race, except maybe the last stage.

Last year Albert did well at some minor stage races (can't recall which one..) and curious to see how he will handle those hilly stages.

Albert won the prologue of the Boucles de la Mayenne and the Tour of Alsace (CG + stage finished on the Ballon d'Alsace).

Joeri Adams is a crosser, first and foremost.


Curious about Walsleben's performances on this race after his very good Tour of Belgium. I think he's always good on the hilly crosses in winter, so perhaps he can do it.

Yes. It's one of the biggest amateur races in the world.

Let's see:

Gesink, Van Garderen and Mollema are previous winners

Boom is a multiple stage winner.

And there are a few others which I can't recall right now.

Don't know if he'll ever make as much money on the road. And it's not exactly a field of seasoned pros he's up against here.

Lars Boom was already Dutch elite champion in both the TT and the road race, as well as the U23 world TT champion, before he made the final transition from 'Cross to the road. I haven't seen Albert do anything like that.

Albert is the far better climber though. Boom rode Circuito Montanes as well, and won some mass sprints and hilly stages. But not a mountain stage like Albert, he was too limited as climber for that

Far better? Based on what? Boom was 22 when he rode in the Circuito Montanes, Albert is 24 now. I recon what Boom showed in the Vuelta last year is a lot more telling than a 2.2 race like this.

I know Boom's strengths. Boom certainly isn't a climber, but that doesn't mean he isn't a better climber than Albert. Yeah, Albert has won some small races in France and Spain, races considering his age he shouldn't even be riding in. Albert really hasn't shown anything on the road to suggest he would be more than a decent domestique.
