Clásica San Sebastián 2010 - 31 July

I think Kolobnev might finally step up and win something instead of finishing second.

Seems to suit LuisLe or Sammy Sanchez, and of course Gilbert can win anything, but I'm guessing he might just be starting to build form for the Worlds and such.

I do seem to remember the lineups changing a lot in the week between the Tour and the race... I don't expect Contador to be there, for one.

Looking at the start list, the guys that will be most hungry are:

Barredo, Cunego, Luis Leon Sanchez - all these guys were in good form but couldn't take a stage win at the Tour.

On the Liquigas side of things, Kreuziger.

On the Katusha side of things, Kolobnev will be their man.

Samuel Sanchez may go at it. Gilbert is a question mark as I don't know what his form is like.

But one of the above names will win. I'll go for Kolobnev or Lulu.

To give an indication of Hesjedal's chances
He was already 5th here last year.
Yup, that's right, 5th.

Also, I noticed this is only the second time Gesink rides the Clasica. The first time was in his year as neo-professional. He finished 13th that year and was part of the action on the Jaizkibel, reacting to attacks.

No one thinks Nibali can do it. He will be dang fresh. He can descend with the best of them, and he climbs well.

The Liquigas team is strong with both Basso and Kreuziger supposedly there...

SS seems to be the one classic that suffers from the media's post Tour hangover.
There appears to be little or no tv coverage, which means net feeds will be thin on the ground.
Anybody know if anybody is showing it?
I'm hopeful that the Basque, etb sat will come through...........

I've never watched this one before, looking forward to it (feeds permitting).

Everyone seems to be expecting the Ardennes specialists to do well - which of the spring classics is San Sebastian similar to?

The parcours is good for Nibali, but typically riders who have their form from the TdF dominate this race, so it's complicated.

Lyds, this is Jaizkibel:

Usually a small group goes through the top of Jaizkibel and holds on for the last 35 or so km. Typically it's a mix of Ardennes specialist and pure climbers straight from the TdF thrown in for good measure. Some of the best climber sprinters have a good chance too.

Sporza and NOS will both show it live. They always do, BTW.

Sorry, you posted the wrong side of the climb. The race goes through Jaizkibel from Pasaia to Hondarribia:

Anyway, either side is longer than the Ardennes climbs.

Hi there

maybe basque TV broadcast streaming, they did during the Tour,

website is: eitb.com, and I might post later this week if I get confirmation,

btw, I will watch the race twice in Jaizkibel and also at the start:D

Doubt they will have anything left in the tank. But you never know

I found it funny to read that Levi leipheimer was on the start list! I see him having a strong sprint near the finish of the race or hitting away on the Jaizkibel.
