, this is what happened ... the most amazing show ever from duarte.

And 2 days later in stage 5 he left the 2009 Vuelta a Colombia won by Rujano after losing over 7 minutes, virtually meaning the end of Colombia es Pasión-Café ... highlight at the time.

6/12/2009 - gone from the picture.
Yeah right!!! A "transition" stage that gave everyone a surprising end. At the 90 Km mark, when everything indicated the group was heading to Cartago for the first massive Sprint of the Vuelta, this day gave Fabio Duarte a black birthday gift. With 15 km to go and the group flying at more than 52 Km/h, he couldn't connect anymore. So the transition stage left us many more back in contention for the crown. Fabio Duarte suffered the sourest day of his short carrier on his 23 birthday. Even when the whole team was driving him, the difference would grow by the minutes. When Colombia es Pasion-Cafe de Colombia crossed the finish line down 7'08" on Garcia he went on tears.

Sevilla at the time was with Rock pedaling for Mancebo and Peña.

rock racing where already long out of contention in vuelta 2009. duarte had a flat tire and 5 colombian teams started going mad and rode duarte to 7 minutes. duarte had went so deep in teh chase with his teammates that he literally got sick and abandoned a few days later.

I remember well rudy pevenage months later he was interviewed saying how much he was shocked at the level in vuelta colombia. even in flat they would ride over 50 km/h for hours just to ride the leader out, who had a flat tire. tactics never seen in europe which is why I can't wait for the next coming of teh colombian teams. a flat tire?? taking a pee?? up yours wiggo. you're done!!

Also some of the other Colombian team cars blocked the CEP car to delay the wheel change.
