Un Sueño team is btw a team based upon a reallife tv show where a number of riders battled it out live on tv for a spot on the clasico rcn team in a reallife soap :D only in colombia stuff like this can happen :p

as you can see the startlist is absolutely sickening. one look at EPM-UNE should drop your pants already. sevilla is suspended fortunately so all focus will be on henao in their team for him to win the only other big colombian race he hasn't won yet, before leaving to Europe.

Very interesting will of course be how rujano will do. he has been with his zulian teammates on specific training for this race. rujano recently won 2 mountainstages in vuelta tovar while being on 60% shape he said. will he be in topshape here? I don't know too much about the course. only that the alto linea is in from the hard side again. same stage as vuelta colombia this year as well as the final climbing itt.

I note Atapuma has managed to squeeze into the race riding for the Police team.

The route looks a little disappointing, much like the Vuelta a Colombia this year. It will all come down to the final time trial. Rujano to win if he avoids hunger knock for once.

yes the course sucks again. last year wasn;t much either. 2009 was hard when ortega won. it seems they are downgrading the big races a lot this year under uci pressure

Profiles look rather strange, there's a KoM prime on a descent in Stage 7. Anyway, compared to the Worlds parcours, a Columbian parcours that sucks will still be pretty cool. Henao, I guess.

Edit: Rujano will liven this up as well.

the sponsor never really left but sponsor small local teams for certin races. they are no longer a structural team so basically they are gone :( but maybe they can return next year as the sponsor still is interested in cycling. overall future for domestic colombian cycling is looking very good anyway.

With the Vuelta a Colombia, the UCI requires more foreign teams to take part if it is to keep its 2.2 status. To do that, they are making it easier because otherwise overseas teams refuse the invitations as they don't think they have much chance (this from an interview with one of the organisers earlier this year).

The basic problem, for me, is that it is much harder than any other race on the circuit, in terms of length, competition, and parcours, yet only gives as many points as much easier one week stage races. So really it is not surprising that it struggles to attract foreign teams.

I'm not sure about the Clasico RCN though, you would have thought they would be free to do what they want.

it doesn't matter what course there is. other than venezuelans no foreign teams go there because they don't stand a chance unless they are world tour teams that obviously won't go.

They were talking about having more flat stages in the first week next year to try and attract some foreign teams. I agree with you by the way, but they are under a lot of pressure from the UCI over this. The UCI just does not seem to recognise the big differences in standards in the Americas.

the sponsor never really left but sponsor small local teams for certin races. they are no longer a structural team so basically they are gone :( but maybe they can return next year as the sponsor still is interested in cycling. overall future for domestic colombian cycling is looking very good anyway.
