I for one feel deprived of value regarding my annual race license fees during the early to late 90's of which a portion is siphoned off by the now discredited or soon to be UCI. I was aware many cat 1/2 racers were at that time actively using banned substances and as a guy with a good sense of humor, well liked in the peleton of the day in both Canada and the USA I made many aquatintences among the teams. We racers know how bonds can be quickly formed especially if you have only a few guys at a race and need to race smartly. I was once offered something by a guy or buddy on another team. We became friends during road race where we went 1-2 in a winning 25 mile breakaway. He said, "you wont be out there suffering so much to win some preems, just come over to our van and I will sell you something that will help you ride like Indurain". I had beaten this dude by 20 feet in that race and now he was eating up prize money. He felt sorry for me, he knew I was stronger, trained harder and had years on him of hard miles in my legs. The UCI is now facing accusation of possible complicity in circumventing abidance of world anti doping controls. We all had to sign on the dotted line in adherence of these controls and obviously a portion of our license fee went to fund that aspect. It seems likely the UCI has turned the anti doping program into a sort of Star Chamber, where the peons would go wanting and the stars would shine. When I would race against teams we now know were lousy with dopers, at great expense to myself and our sponsors I was always under the illusion we were on a level playing field. we now know that not to be true. I am certain I was robbed of money, both prize and sponsorship, and I would like the UCI portion of my license fees refunded. I signed a contract, they were not honest in their part of the bargain. WE SHOULD BEGIN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST THE UCI TODAY and demand satisfaction from these duplicitous crooks. It is time we start suing the UCI, treat them like they treat men who value integrity like Paul Kimmage.
