Clean Era was a myth..........

So Ferrari was working for 20 teams from '08 - '11 and this was when guys like JV told us that doping was no longer cool, new generation dont dope, margianl gains......********!

Also guys like Kittel winning with ease and clean! Ha more lies. Kittel happy to call out nobodies in Turkey or doping but ignore big time juicers.

Sport is still a cesspit. But then we have been told that by Ashenden and Benedetto Roberti, yet people still argue that clean riders can beat dopers!

Not in GTs and Monuments.

The various police forces have done more for anti doping than the UCI in its whole history.

Let us hear from these so called clean riders and clean teams slamming the peloton, no doubt the silence will be deafening.

i must look for it but I definitely recall JV somewhere speaking here in the Clinic about some sort of 'truce' between the teams in 07 or 08 where it was 'decided' that doping was no longer cool.
right.

It's not until it became obvious that retroactive testing would be part of the anti-doping arsenal (as opposed to an experiment) that (IMO) cycling became somewhat cleaner and the cheats had to become much smarter.

I look forward to reading the (80?) names. Or 79 names, because I can bet one will be referred to as "Piti" :D. Come on, smile Benotti69 :p!

Yes, let's see how much if any outrage is expressed in the days/weeks to come.

Like many on this forum, I want to believe that the sport is getting cleaner and that a clean (French ;)) guy can win the biggest races. 20 teams you say? I hope that a bunch of heads will (talk before they) roll. Otherwise, you're right, anti-doping is pretty much dependent on custom agents opening the trunk of a car. It's a shame.

right.

because it became HOT

Clean top sport is a myth. Not only cycling. Compare it to anything with competition.

Let's take gaming for instance. I was a pretty serious FPS gamer at some point (younger years, Unreal Tournament, later Call of Duty). Even in the top tier where anti-hacking measures are huge, there are still players who manage to hack and cheat. And a lot are caught only after years of doing this undetected.

Top competition sports is the same, they all want to win and be great and try to cheat undetected. It's sadly human nature.

Only really great persons don't cheat, but they also never win (big)

right.

I think the theory was that puerto made everyone scared to dope, and also those who continued to dope got frozen out by the cool kids.

but in reality it seems like everyone went straight to Ferrari instead.

It really is pathetic that the sport thinks it can hide its doping, even after all the scandals we have had. It really shows how much respect they have for fans and just how stupid these guys are.

It really is time governments made sporting fraud a criminal offence with huge fines for those involved.

Why would governments care about clean sport?

Indeed when sport has become another weapon in the arsenal of state propaganda-and when it is a big economic producer, or simply when it has always been a great social pacifier: "panem et circensis."

Illegal movement and taking of pharmaceuticals and loss of taxes.

But yep asking Politicians to care about cleaning up corruption is expecting speeding tickets to be given out at F1

sport has always been a good way to train people to become patriotic and not think about real issues.

right.

Yeah and I recall JV saying in 2005:

No doping on postal:
"I was thinking back (to that time) and I remember I could feel that we (USPS) were going to be real contenders for the Tour. So I called Johan (Bruyneel) and asked him if there was anything I should be worried about. He assured me and said, 'we're not going to be doing any of that (doping)'. Basically, he said there was none of that (in the team). There would be nothing to worry about.

Using machine error explanation:
But that year, it is now widely accepted even by the UCI, according to Vaughters, that its testing apparatus was calibrated somewhat high.

Speeds were down:
Still, Vaughters noticed at this year's Route de Sud, a French stage race where his young team competed, there was a more consistent level among the field. "It appeared to be fair competition. It looked very real to me," he said of the race, as he knows what his riders are capable of in terms of their power output and physiology.

JV....dedicating his life to antidoping

Really interested to see how JV reacts to Padova and his next move towards keeping the myth alive.

VelonTM era promised fans a more entertaining product through use of modern technology. Just did not realize that it was the police using this technology that was going to be providing the entertainment.

"Real issues," well me thinks that sport has always been a potent means to divert the masses from them.

mafia. gotta luv it
is that eddy mazzoleni and elisa basso? more silcon and botox in her than nicole kidman and dolly parton.

plus, mazzoleni is cuckolded by armstrong.

but she would do ok in one of those John Waters sexual melodramas. I could see her playing the Berlusconi girl, say, ruby heartbreaker, and belly dancer type who was a letter turner on wheel of fortune.

We drank the kool-aid, again.

As long as there's big money to be made there's cheaters willing to take a chance. Cycling will apparently never change.
