Clinically approved cycling books/reading?

Hi everyone, long time lurker™ here.

As the thread name said, I am looking for cycling books the clinic consider worth reading. Not necessarily doping related, but honest.

So far I have read and re-read 'Rough Ride', which I liked very much. Also I have read 'The Secret Race' when it first came out, which I found decent. But that is all.

Any advice would be highly appreciated.

P.S. Pardon my poor English.

Read all the books of Hans Christian David Walsh, starting with 'the Climb' all the way way back to the autobiography of Paula Radcliffe.

English-language books:

Matt Rendell's Pantani book, which has been re-released with a new update.
Paul Kimmage's Rough Ride
Willy Voet's Breaking the Chain

David Walsh's LA Confidentiel (available in English via USADA) and From Lance to Landis

Tyler Hamilton's The Secret Race and David Millar's Racing Through the Dark are like cheap imported knock-offs of Breaking the Chain and Rough Ride.

Specifically for doping-related information, after those your best bet is various reports all available online (Freiburg, USADA, etc) and different papers/articles on the subject.

There is an awful lot of quite good doping-related information available in many bad (some very bad) books. Getting to it, though, takes a lot of effort.

@Feargal: how about Hunger by Kelly? would you recommend it?

Breaking the chain was in no means as good as the original in Dutch/Flemish by the way, the Rendell book on Pantani I think is overrated.

Tim Krabbe - de renner ['the cyclist'] is a classic in Holland

Specifically WRT doping, no. As I said when I reviewed he, I can understand where Kelly is coming from, the respect of his peers is what matters the most and he believes in collective responsibility so won't put his hand up, but that doesn't mean I applaud the BS he trots out about only ever being busted for a cough medicine his chemist gave him by mistake.

Nicole Cooke's 'The Breakaway'.

Not only is doping discussed, so is the incompetence and small mindedness of British Cycling, which runs rather contrary to the narrative we are spoon fed that Brailsford, Sutton etc are geniuses.

A shame it's not available electronically.

I am of the opinion Richard Moore is a terrible journalist and an easy trying to score writer but Slaying the Badger and In Search of Robert Millar arent that bad, Sky's the Limit and more other bs books by him are also a nice read if you like comedy, Louis de Funes style.

Willy Voet's Breaking the Chain
I ordered this one recently, am eagerly awaiting its arrival in the mail.

In the meantime I'm still wading through the last 100 pages of Landis' Positively False (managed to read about two pages in the past two weeks), I think Floyd's background is interesting, but it all falls apart once he gets into the pros and denies doping.

I liked Tyler Hamilton's Secret Race, have read Wheelmen (don't remember a thing from it), and just for *** and giggles I would highly recommend BikeSnobNYC's Systematically & Mercilessly Realigning the World of Cycling - it has little to do with talk about doping, but it's hilarious, nonetheless.

Bad Blood by Jeremy Whittle. Altho' slightly hijacked by Millar as part of his rehabilitation. I suspect Whittle was working with Millar on Riding through the dark, or at least discussing it with him, while finishing Bad Blood.

BB is particularly good on the author's relationship with Lance.

We might as well win - Johan Bruyneel
It's not about the Bike - Lance Armstrong
Inside Team Sky - David Walsh
Ma Verite - Richard Virenque
Positively False - Floyd Landis
Racing through the Dark - David Millar
One Way Road - Robbie McEwen

Just to get you started.
