Porte was the strongest support rider, but I'm not sure his leader really needed him much.

Also how did Kittel get some many wins in TdF? Who was the main train man?

I seem to recall Devo doing lots of work for Cancellara during the double.

What about J-Rod's sidekick, Moreno. Any good this year?

Vasil was strong for Porte, but he failed when it mattered most: TdF.

Porte, Moreno and Kreuziger were all leaders in some races.

Most important domestique of the ones mentioned is surely Kreuziger. I can't imagine how much time Contador might have lost, had he not had Kreuziger in the mountains in TDF.
Porte was totally unnecessary for SKY all year around as a domestique. In his case, it seems like it would've been a better idea to just focus on a GT instead of helping a teammate (Froome), who doesnt need help...
Kangert did an okay job in the giro, but only showed in flashes what he was able to do as a super domestique.
Kiriyenka was oddly invisible this year, and I actually only recall pictures of him leading the peleton up a smaller climb on the first stage of Vuelta a Pays Basque. IMO he doesnt deserve a spot here, compared to others.

Other mentions: Devolder (did a fine job, even if he wasnt there for the final in RVV and PR), Kiserlovski (some1 else mentioned, was very valuable for Horner in La Vuelta), Bennati (a bit overlooked, has done a good job all year as road cpt and produced some small results himself), Stannard (Not as visible as last year but did alright again this year, great MSR by him)

Roman Kreuziger, may not be a dom all year but he dom'd his way to 5th in the TDF. Of course you cant make Contador have the embarrasement of working for a rider in the TDF but Roman Kreuziger would have got 3rd in the TDF if he did not have to keep staying back and going on a suicide attack. He worked his socks off guys.

He is underrated even last year at Astana people thought he was bad for having 1 bad day in the Giro, he came 5th the year before he also had good resuts last year in stage races it was not a terrible year bye any means, as a leader of a team like Astana then yes it was a bad year but this guy is harshly treated he shut alot of people up this year with his performances he is way ahead of riders like Van den Broeck, Mollema, Gesink to be GT winner. Kreuziger is underrated he will never be a serial winner but me he will be a consistent podium finisher from now on if Contador does not return.



I dont agree with Agnoli being 1 of the better doms i think Sky have much better domestiques people cant just say becus Porte done well in Paris Nice that he cant class as a dom, Porte was excellent all year when racing for Froome.

Kiryienka did a lot of work in the early season races iirc. I think Porte did a cracking job for Froome, and was required. He sacrificed his own GC hopes on that day in the Pyrenees, went back to the car for an illegal feed on Alpe d'Huez and along with Kennaugh, set a blistering pace up the Montoux and Axe 3 Domaines.

I seem to recall Astana slightly ballsing up on the Angliru, they could have given Nibbles far more help in fending off the creaky climber.

Just looked at the riders in poll and i forgot about Kangert for me Kangert is a beast he could podium a GT 1 day, not next year though i hope/think Aru is going to be a big star does anyone else think Aru can show his fututre pedigree by top 5. I think he will be the new Simoni(1 of my fav all time climbers as pure as can be)

Cance i agree dude i said it ages ago about Kreuziger, Contador really has alot of work to do and i mean alot, Kreuziger absoloute saved him, he worked for Contador and almost every climb he tempo'd back to him everytime he really was the strongest look at Ax-3 i think Kreuziger would have been ahead of Valverde. But no he had to wait all tour and then they do most stupid attack ever as a tandem, if as we led to believe Contador does not care if he does not win he should have done it with Roche and belw himself up not Kreuziger. Thats why although i believe it that it's all about the win for him apart of me thinks if thats the case and he is not botherd why not do what Froome done on final stage and lose time so Kreuziger moves up as a thank you surely he dont care 4th or 5th?



But man i am counting down the days guys to new season, does anyone think Kreuziger cand do a good GC again?

But was it necessary?

We all know Porte couldve been 2nd in the TDF, but when you simply don't have a leader who needs ur services, how can you be a required domestique?

Yes Porte did make that dirty little food trick on D'huez, but do you honestly think it had any impact on the race except for a winning margin 1-1½ minutes smaller?
If doing illegal stuff is what we are measuring the quality of a domestique on, then this thread is clearly stupid, and I actually dont think it is.
