Not too bad by Emu today! Hilarious to see him sprint Carlos Rodriguez for the line today. Slowest ever sprint?

He might be in the fight for the fake competition of Top 10-15 GC in the tour, though. It's irrelevant but it's not nothing.

His problem is that he lacks the kick to actually sprint for KoM points, otherwise the Fortunato route might be a good idea.

A shocking first half of the Tour for Cofidis.

Le Coq bagged an anonymous 7th place on stage eight, and THAT IS ARGUABLY THE HIGHLIGHT!

Benjamin Thomas in polkadot after stage one. But managed to crash Vercher while in the break and has not been visible since...

75 UCI points - which is the lowest amount of any team (obviously).

And just to keep the book straight - BIG SURPRISE - GC buchmann did not eventuate. 20 th place, 4 minutes down on GC Jonathan Narvaez...

It can't get worse in the next half. Or can it??

Their biggest impact on the race was knocking out Phillipsen.

It’s more a case of indicating that a team’s performance is so lackluster only the negative thing stands out.
Fair enough. Can't see where a big result will come from in the next 11 stages either. Izagirre need to find his legs for that to happen but he's been off the pace all year.

Only 1 rider from Cofidis has managed to get into a break during the first 10 stages of the race. I would be correcting that before looking at results.

aranburu might score some points in la vuelta, but i guess it will be too late for the team.

Targeting the 1.pro one-day races gives more points than going to the vuelta to get smashed my WT level competition, and ride maybe 50% of stages where he can't achieve anything. Him and lousy Dylan Teuns need to turn things arouned in those belgian and italian races coming in the fall. Low level competition with big points on offer. Won't save them though as you say, and the writing has been on the wall all year.

Vasseur needs to go!!!

...and they extended Buchmann. Unbelivable incompetence. L.

What can he conceivably contribute the next two years?? A series of 20th places in GC? No UCI points, no visibility, no agressive racing, no wins, no podiums in any race. A one-dimensional average climber who can't help the team or his teammates in any way. And he is a completely selfish rider as demonstrated several times at Bora.

Signing washed up semi-expensive GC riders from the pre-covid era is literally the opposite of what the smart money does.
Why not make an offer for Kruiswijk and Froomie while you are at it, Vasseur?

Alex Kirsch going to Cofidis on a 3-year deal. Bit of an odd one, but the 33 year old is quite a good rider imo.

Lead-out and positioning for Fretin most likely his job. Makes sense to gather support for the best rider on the team. Renard is also good in that role but he may be leaving?

I think Jamie Meehan is a good signing. Could be among the best climbers in the team and should perform at the Jura 1.1 races next year. I like it!

Nice win by Moniquet! I always liked him for the .1 calendar. Good teamwork also by Maisonobe. It is crucial that the second tier guys step up now that the first tier guys with mega-salaries are abosulutely awful. Looking at you, Dylan Teuns and Buchmann.

Cofidis ROI ranking

  1. Victor Lafay → 🚀 very high ROI (Tour + Giro stage wins, low salary).
  2. Jesús Herrada → strong ROI (multiple Vuelta stages, mid-salary).
  3. Ion Izagirre → Tour stage win, slightly higher salary but justified.
  4. Álex Aranburu → consistent top-10s, high UCI points, valuable in Spain; ROI solid but not spectacular (lacks big GT wins).
  5. Bryan Coquard → finally a Tour stage win, but high salary + many near-misses = weaker ROI.
  6. Guillaume Martin → steady top-10 GC, but high salary lowers ROI.
  7. Dylan Teuns → high salary, very little delivered at Cofidis.
  8. Emanuel Buchmann → so far almost no return; weakest ROI.

Cofidis need badly points, but they are performing very badly' even in Spain.
so far they only got 65 points after 9 stages, that's like 7-8 points per stage, and they rank 21st....
they are defiantly going down...

They had a huge opportunity today in Plouay where they had 4 riders in the top group fighting for points against only Abrahamsen for Uno-X but they ended up only getting 32 points against Uno-X 8 with Aranburu being best at 25th.

The dizzying spring of Astana and UNOXhas been their downfall.

Aramburu, who was the second-highest points-scoring rider at Movistar, failed, he is far below that level. Izagirre and Teuns are too veteran to sustain the team.

Their luck that Arkea folds and Total could follow suit next year. Still not desperate to reform and perform, they will always get an invite to the Tour.
