After California another great climbing performance by Laengen on the last 2 stages, not many riders who weight 80kg can climb like that, but he already had a great engine and good climbing results as an U23 rider.

Mihkel Raim wins the stage ahead of Mccabe and Jose Alfredo Rodriguez, Canola 4th.
Senni wins the gc, good for him and even if he's leaving BMC he got a win for them in an US stage race.
He's a nice guy, at the Giro he was walking around before the team bus and talking with the fans on the Piancavallo stage (just like Quinziato and Ventoso).

Except the lack of fireworks on the final day, this was a really good race overall.

This entire event had the potential to completely flop. They had a lot of circuit races around metropolitan areas (due to money issues) that missed out on much of the state's greatest attraction - the scenery, with Denver (maybe the least attractive place in the state) featured. They also had some bad weather, including no TV coverage at times. There were also some surprise results, with lower named riders, even almost unknown riders, in breaks, competing for jerseys. From this angle, the race was massively inferior to every previous incarnation of the race in this great cycling state.

And yet, the whole thing seemed to come off well. They had some exciting racing and close finishes. Some of the more personable riders were in breaks, winning, and wearing jerseys. Crowds weren't bad either. And there wasn't much controversy. Plus, it was fantastic seeing Michael Aisner there, smiling and looking good (Morgul-Bismark next year anyone?!).

I haven't heard any numbers, but it looks to me like they did a great job bringing this race to life, back to life, in a calculated way, and it has potential to last and be more stable this time. We'll see.

Any chance the Tour of Georgia and Tour of Missouri can come back?!
