Is it just me, or does Cav think he can ride his bike without a helmet. Or are there so few cars on the road and the speeds so low that he does not really care ?

When I was younger, I used to race without a helmet (and am dating myself here) but then, I was NEVER a star rider either ;)

It was just off temporarily. It was hot as hell. Here's another couple pics from the same day.

With all of the news generated out of training in Spain, a bump on the head would seem to be the least of Columbia's worries.

Cav better be careful. Not just about the helmet.

No helmet, bad idea. You can bet for a fact there's a clause in his contract stipulating he never gets on his bike without one. Columbia would want to safeguard their treasure.
But I'd be more worried about the sex-starved girls and alien reptiles. I did the research on this island -- a crazy spot.

isn't there a rule in Spain that if you are a pro and it is hotter than X degrees you don't have to wear a helmet.

Plus he was training in Lanzarote and there aren't many cars about where they are training anyway

I'd put in a clause that if you don't wear the team helmet, you have to wear this the following day:

I don't know if the temperature is a factor or not, but Astana got pulled over in Tenerife this time last year because Horner wasn't wearing a helmet. The other guys made fun of him later because he knew the law about pros not needing one in Spain, and because the police made him prove he was a pro (he had I.D.)

Text from my above link

The Spanish law requiring helmets took effect in January of 2004. The exceptions are: when riding in cities or towns, during "periods of extreme heat", when riding up steep hills, for medical reasons and professional cyclists. Any riders during a competition are not required to wear a helmet, either. Violators are subject to a fine of up to 90 euro.

Am I the only one to think that the phot gallery of Colombia-HTC's training camp is nothing more than Cav fan-boi lovefest?

Someone should tell the photographer that there are other riders in the team and only one head-shot of Cav will suffice for the masses.

All a bit judgemental really - we don't know whether the sponsors/photographer were asking if Cav could leave his crash helmet off for the photos. It'll keep the teenage daughter happy, anyway.

If anyone tries to hire a bike in Greece, don't even think about asking for a crash helmet. They treat you like a wuss if you want one for on a motorbike. I had to argue at length for one when I hired a scooter on Spetses, even though the owner's mate was walking around paralysed down one side and covered in scars...
