With Quigley and Kelly, you have two others with much stronger regional accents, in their case Irish though. And then Magnus B. speaking in a slightly accented yet fluent second language.

There's an interesting interview with Matt Stephens in this month's Pro Cycling Magazine (Costa cover). He talks about how he started commentating, how he made the jump into doing it as a career last summer after quitting the police and his surprise at getting the opportunity to do lead commentator (which was a long-term aim) so quickly.

Yup. I noticed that too.

In response to your post I admit that I searched google for a "not humanly possible" gif, or something like that. But...

Somehow this came up:

So Quigley… That image is what I will think of from now on, when considering your professionalism.

It's a co production.. They did the same with the women's tour, itv highlights will have same comms.

That's what I thought too but it turns out that for ITV4 they did their own shots. Imlach had an ITV4 mic for his links whereas it was black on Eurosport. ITV4 also used Phil Liggett (with Rochelle Gilmore for the womens race and Dan Lloyd for the mens race) for commentary while Eurosport had Kirby and Stephens.

I think Sweetspot were the producers and both channels used their own people within the coverage, with Imach and Lloyd introducing for Eurosport and Imlach alone for ITV4. Matt Rendell was doing interviews on ITV4, though I didn't see all of the Eurosport coverage to see if he was there too.

Why do you all watch British Eurosport if the commentary ****es you off so much? Don't speak any other language?

hahaha us Brits can typically ask the way to the beach in another language. Personally I can grasp bits of French, Spanish, German and Italian (in that order) but I would be lost for specifics in another language. Good practice though.

Because I have British ES on my Sky subscription that I pay for and I can't be bothered to watch on a puny little laptop screen compared to my large HD TV. To be fair the commentary isn't to bad in my opinion, I can live with it I the racing is good.

It's all relative - I was jumping onto ITV when Eurosport went to a break and the Phil/Paul show is poor compared to the Eurosport trio. Pre/Post stage a walkover for ITV - I think Andy Schleck has finished more stages than Greg Le Mond has sentences this year.
