That's poor, but at least they are showing Ruta del Sol which has a much better startlist.

I would say both start lists are about equal now that Quintana isnt starting in Andalucia. The route in for Oman is not as good the Ruta del Sol.

Although really its not something to argue about as we all have different views.

Swings and roundabouts I guess but from this time of year we have lost:

Oman (last shown as delayed highlights in 2014)
Qatar (last shown live in 2012)
Algarve (last shown as highlights in 2013)

But last year we gained Andalucia live and as part of RCS's deal with Eurosport, Dubai live as well.

Rob Hatch has tweeted to confirm that Sean Kelly will join him for Paris-Nice. He also confirmed that for once they will follow the race so the commentary should be enhanced with some local colour and not just be called from a screen and laptop somewhere in the London suburbs!

thanks for pointing that out, Rob's always keen to be on the ground (he was in Dubai and goes over to Belgium for the 6 Flanders Classics races to do their international comms and I've seen him say he prefers to be at the races in person) - I wonder how much influence they have over such things if the opportunity is there? afaik the Tour of Turkey pay for foreign journalists / commentators to come over so that's another as well as the TdF that has them on site (and I'm sure Paris-Roubaix does too). Shame the Giro doesn't have the Eurosport guys on the road - makes such a difference imo.

I'm assuming that Declan Quigley will be doing Tirreno for Eurosport as Rob is going to be in France and Carlton in Italy with Dan Lloyd doing it for RCS.

The following year was David Harmon's last race for Eurosport - I seem to recall either he or Maggie tweeted a pic from the top of the climb on the stage that Berhane won.

I know ES runs on a tight budget and providing comms in several languages doesn't come cheap but it's hardly a long stretch to ship guys over for the day for the northern Europe races. It wouldn't be so bad if they would admit where they are but CK in particular often makes references to the local food or drink they are planning to sample that evening when you know perfectly well he will either be back home or grabbing a curry in Staines or some such place.

Still, any coverage is better than none, even if they did make a poor job of Ruta del Sol.

He tweets pics from his travels usually for anyone who can suffer his Crap Joke Friday schtick enough to follow him. Seem to recall one of Sean Kelly on a sunlounger last year!

And there was also a time, I think it was the year Wiggo set out to conquer the Giro, where he and Dan Lloyd were there for RCS and Dan was tweeting pics of the torrential rain outside their finish line box. Meanwhile you had Declan and Sean in London and their commentary just lacked the authenticity the other two were able to serve up by being on site.

His knowledge is 'second to none'. How nice to have a cycling commentator who, at last, does his homework and has a genuine interest in professional cycling racing.
