Gosh, danish commentator Rene Wenzel just completely ruined my evening watching the Giro. Looked forward to this day for weeks and he is the commentator. Ffs

Bay and Holm comment the first stages on Kanal 5, the horrendous double W duo of Worre and Wenzel on Eurosport.
Well, if it wasn't for Wenzel, I wouldn't mind the "double W duo" too much. Worre is actually a very nice speaker, clearly one of the most passionate, has great humor (although it's hard to beat Bay and Holm in that respect) and his knowledge is great as well.

That said, I'll probably go find Kanal 5 on ES player today

I never thought I would say this but after watching ned Boulting on the tour de yorkshire for 3 days I want some Carlton!

Boulting is just clueless, get back to Wendy ball!
I've come to accept clueless as the norm. My TV can survive clueless without having things thrown at it. I like Ned just as I like Quigley on the other side. They come across as self-effacing cycling fans who realise that people didn't tune in to listen to them. Only one commentator can be relied on to deliver the nausiating relentless me me me me monologue that has to get the mute button treatment every single time

Watching the Giro yesterday, I was confused who the neo-pro, late call-up was for Quick Step. Rob Hatch was calling him Myrko. I had never heard of him.

Got it now. (though I think it's taking the whole "pronounce it as it is pronounced by the rider themselves" thing too far)

Who? I assume you mean a neo-pro who was a late call-up for the Giro...
Schachmann? Guess "Maximillian" could become "Myrko", somehow...
("Neo-pro" in the sense of "on first contract", not "first-year pro")

Errr... wirral, did you for some reason accidentally write neo-pro, or did Rob Hatch actually use the term "neo-pro"?

Fellow, Danes. Help me out here! Who's the guy in the studio? Meinert?

When Hatch produced a phonetic construction that Wirral didn't recognise, Wirral assumed (or maybe he simply pretended, for comedic effect, to assume) that it was a rider he hadn't heard of, and therefore, a neo-pro.

The balance between a totally anglicised pronunciation, which comes across as ignorant, and a over-enunciated attempt to say the name as the rider might, which can appear pretentious, is one that every commentator must find for himself. I try not to mind too much, so long as what we end up with can be defended in either the original or target language: Fryeeyeay for Fraile does neither, nor does Castorvejio.

Just got a bit confused, since Quickstep actually does have a neo-pro who was a late call-up. However...

1: He's not in the Giro, so why would Hatch be talking about him?
2: There is no way in a million years "Kasper Asgreen" could become "Myrko"!

Dunkerque will be only on the player also this year?

I checked the Sky TV guide and there aren't live events for all the next week on Eurosport 2 during the afternoon (everyday there is SBK Nederlands GP  ) so plenty of space to cover the race.

I'm watching the Giro on Fubo TV.....I'm not sure who the original broadcaster is though. Does anyone know who those announcers are?
If they are using the world feed in English, then it is most likely Matt Stephens and Rob Hayles.
Thanks very much.....I couldn't find out who it was until I saw this and then googled fubo tv and Matt Stephens and that confirmed it for me. Cheers.

Kirby through me off so bad today, I was watching the highlights of the last few km (I didn't know the results) and was convinced Bennett (George and Sam) were on for huge results and it turns it out it wasFormolo and Battaglin.

Also Lotto's new jersey is confusing af

Danish guy (on the Player) complaining that it was Eg who was tasked with giving Brambilla his bike, suggesting it should have been Didier.
Yeah, 189 cm Didier giving 170 cm Brambilla his bike would have worked very well...
Who was it? Rene Wenzel?....

No, it was Rasmus Pedersen. He's been commentating with Lander on the Player.
Think Wenzel might be getting a few days off before ToC.
