I didnt capture the audience figures for the whole race, and you have to pay to access them now.

but ITVs live coverage of the opening stage of the TdF last year, free remember too, got 158,000 viewers. the highlights, admittedly badly time shifted due to the darts that day, got 50,000 viewers.

the 2nd stage got 126,000 viewers, the highlights at the normal time 119,000.

and from memory thats about as good as it got, I think the final stage drew more in because...reasons I guess

but you're looking at about 150,000, for free coverage, and TNT probably get figures of about 50,000 tops

for comparison, the Darts Masters final live the other week got 540,000, same ITV channel. and it gets into the millions for live football.

thats the size of the audience in the UK, for cycling, its basically the size of the British Cycling/CyclingUK membership and thats it

I pay through EE, it’s 20 a month but strangely fiddly to subscribe to as the buttons take you round in a circle on the online browser. I got there through the EE app, not sure if it will be affected in the end.

As an added bonus I will be able to watch United get beat tonight without resorting to a 360p Iraq Goals stream. I will miss Hafid Derradji, and Faris Awadh giving it socks in the Arabic feed, maybe HBO max will hire them for the cycling.

I see. Well, currently massive consolidation is ongoing on the market and who knows maybe cycling in the UK will indeed land on a platform such as Netflix in the future. Maybe even BBC to cover Tour de France. Then if some local talents start making inroads and due to presence of a team such as Ineos, all in all am rather sure that darting and cricket won't stand a real chance.

I don't understand the language but the commentators of Tour of Oman did a pretty good job. They never stop talking (I wonder about what) but actually point out when key riders are out of position. Like today they reacted to VPP getting dropped - so they clearly have some knowledge. Always nice to watch the race live on youtube. Cycling to the people!
