Only thing 2024 has over 2025 is the Giro, 8 more GT stages, and 5 more wins in general. CdD > VaC plus his classics assault was remarkable and better than 2024. The Tour was similar in the beginning but I think missing Almeida and the crash along with the classics focus took some extra out of his legs for the last week.

Well... 'MSR and PR' 'rate...very highly in the equation' even more so 'cause without solely MVDP, he could've have done a 1*-1-1-1-1

*I highly doubt Ganna gets 2°place at MSR 2025 if MVDP isn't in the race.

Very true.

This is why I think for now, MVDP and Vingegaard are his only competitors. Because it is kinda crazy to think about but I'm positive that without Vingegaard and MVDP he can win all the monuments and all the GT in the same year.

For now these are the only 2 who have a consistent chance to beat him in the races he targets and who consistently pose a real threat.

The Giro-Tour double was something immense but hey, this year, he was like goddamn Darth Vader. In every race he was the man to beat. In almost every race he beat (read DEVASTATED) everyone else.
Such a big difference in level it felt like playing two different video-games, one in easy mode and the other in super hardcore mode.
Crazy, never ever seen anything like this year since I started following cycling in the late nineties.

To me it seems that now MVP is his only huge competitor and the only guy that beats Pogacar in some races the Slovenian targets. He single handedly prevented Pogacar from winning all 5 monuments this year (I mean wut?). Vingegaard is a legendary rival but he couldn't hurt Pogacar in the mountains for two consecutive Tour editions so now he's surely behind.

Obviously two historic seasons, and only the best of Merckx seasons are in the same conversation.
I vote for 2024. I could maybe be convinced that 1st in Flanders, 2nd in Roubaix, 2nd in Amstel, 1st in Fleche and 1st in EC tie a Giro win. I think Giro d'Emilia is worth a bit more than Tre Valli Varesine. Last year he won Montreal. Dauphine > Catalunya, and while UAE tour is a lesser race, it still counts for something. But 12 GT stage wins is really crazy. So I give 2024 a slight edge.

With all 5 monument wins, this would undisputedly be the best season of all time.

It's easier to target multiple monuments a year than multiple GTs. So, conversely, this is true for the rest of the field, and the level of competition at the monuments is consistently higher than at GTs. Only the Tour has a really high level every year. Which means that -- for me -- monuments are more valuable than Giro or Vuelta.

Concrete example: to win Flanders, Pog had to beat Mads, Mathieu and Wout, who are clearly the best Flandrien classics specialists right now and some of the best we've seen since at least Boonen/Cancellara.

Meanwhile to win the Giro, Pog had to beat an ancient trackie and and a guy who's never once cracked the top 10 world ranking bc all of his real competition was saving it for the le tour.

You can't seriously be docking him points for gifting Quebec this year.

I think his 2025 is more impressive, because doing Such a good cobbled season paired with a TdF win is unheard of in modern cycling it just can't be done(would be the reply if you had suggested it pre-Pogi).
Meanwhile Giro-Tour is hard and very rare, but not that unheard of in modern times.
