BMC probably had no choice to select Gilbert as he wears the rainbow but on a good day he can race. However, I doubt Evans will allow him to do anything.

There are a lot of good riders left out of this team in preference to some very average domestiques to support an aged GC rider. If my memory serves me correctly this team contains 7 members of the 2011 team. Who did the team selection - Evans? Never a good idea to try and relive the past.

It is sad that the Tdf does not show case the best cycling talent. The list of riders not going to the TDF this year looks more interesting than the actual team selections.

Hushovd just interviewed on Norwegian TV about BMC selection for TDF. Said that he knew if he was going or not, but did not look happy. Also stated that (paraphrasing): "There is alot going on internally at BMC team, there will be a press release in a couple of days."

Looks like the 'BMC in Disarray' thread will be active again then in a few days, just in time for the tour.

Frank has never really raced with Evans so that's no surprise.

Santaromita would have been better than Frank but he rode the Giro. Evans wanted him in the team but they must be worried about fatigue. Frank is probably being saved for the Vuelta or maybe same as Santa. He rode the TOC and the TDS. He went pretty deep in the TDS and he is only young. Not such a bad thing for the team to be cautious with their best young riders. They will need them when Hushovd, Evans and others retire later on. It's about the best team BMC could have selected except for Gilbert. Very experienced and some great domestiques. They never had the climbing talent to select, anyway, apart from the two leaders.

You watch, Gilbert will look good in the Vuelta just in time for the Worlds and do nothing in the Tour like last year. I would have preferred GVA to have gone. A great team man and could not even make the squad.

Agree about GvA. A man not afraid of sidestepping own ambitions and if the GC ambush goes to hell, he can keep BMC visible on a few stages.

Maybe Gilbert got some wording in his contract to help him get selected. Dunno.

That BMC team sucks. No santa and Frank?

Santaromita rode very much this year. Also Evans doesn't need much MO domestiques.Tejay,Moinard and Morabito are enough.Frank after his Suisse performance I think will be saved for Vuelta where BMC will not have an GC men. With this year parcours Frank can top 10.

They should have kept Santambrogio, Evans' most trusted domestique ;)

Anyone know why Guardini wasn't selected? Can't remember it being discussed anywhere. I remember he was scheduled to do the Tour earlier in the year but he's been pretty bad all year. Just not in good enough form to be able to handle the Tour perhaps?

So Bonnet and Fischer to help Bouhanni and everybody else helping Pinot. Hopefully they can limit their losses in the TTT as they aren't exactly filled with great TT guys. Pinot should have decent support in the mountains with Jeannesson, Geniez and Fedrigo.

AG2R as expected. Glad they didn't pick Hutarovich just for the sake of bringing a sprinter as he has no form whatsoever. Would've liked to see Cherel in Minards place.
