Really good squad. Henao will fight for the podium, i don't know what Uran's objective will be, but Eddy definitely will get his chance to fight for a stage win.

Will they give Cataldo a kind of a free role?

I recall reading somewhere Uran saying he was only there for training and to help Henao or something like that. He won't be going for overall.

do you remember where you read that? That's not what Henao said at least

I can't remember, and can't seem to find where exactly it was. But while searching I did find this.

Where under Uran's name it says.
Uran will be riding in support of Henao this time around, but is more than capable of challenging for top honours again, should the need arise.

So looks like the plan is for Henao, but if something happens Uran will take over.

Martin will be lonely in the moutains :p If he fails to deliver, it might be an non event for Garmin, unless Farrar wins a stage, which is highly unlikely. Will watch Howes with intrest.

Now confirmed. Farrar is in, Hunter misses out.

If Farrar is capable of ever getting back to his previous level, this is as good a stepping stone as any: A desperately poor sprinter's field in a relatively high prestige race. He can potentially win a stage here and get some confidence back while still being a long way from the form he had when he was arguably the closest thing Cavendish had to a rival.

The rest of the team is a bit of a mystery though. Have they really sent a team of sprinters, TT men and classics riders to support Farrar? Or are they there to go in breaks? And, ok, Martin is the kind of attacking climber who doesn't have too much use for a load of mountain support, but they haven't even sent someone to stick around for a while and get him a few bottles or give a wheel. It's the sort of "support" the designated GC man might expect on Greenedge or OPQS, not from Garmin. He'll be kept well out of the wind on the flat but completely solo once the road goes uphill.

Seems like BMC's selection criterion for GTs is to chose riders who haven't won a single race this year. Beyond a joke that neither Frank, GVA nor Hushovd have been allowed to start any GT this year, despite the three of them having won ****loads of races since June.

YES!!!!! Hope he can put in a great ride- He's been nonexistent this year.

/ because of injury... I know you know @Gloin: just saying in case gustienordic was wondering.

Eijssen could go well- other than that not holding out much hope.

What is GVA's schedule if he is not riding this- presuming a continuation in North America?

Frank is in Colorado, so it's not exactly surprising that he wasn't selected ;)

I didn't say it was surprising, just silly that neither of them are selected for any GT this year. I'm sure that if Frank or GVA could choose they'd rather ride the Vuelta than the USA Pro Cycling Challenge...

It just seems so badly planned, when 3 such great riders end up not riding a GT at all. If they knew they were not going to select them for the TDF (after all, Frank and GVA's non-selection can't have been based on their form at the time), then they should've just told them and let them ride the Giro instead...
