Contador = Armstrong PR Cover-up?

Did Armstrong call for Contador to either test positive or become "unprotected" to act as a strategic PR diversion to what is going on with the Feds?

I am thinking this might be the case, given the odd reaction from Pat Mcquack.

No. The UCI were trying to keep this under wraps. They told Contador to keep quiet and Patty lied to the German press about the existence of the positive only two days ago.

Which is not that strange. I mean, it happens all the time. Also in sport. It is logical that you won't want to confirm this to a random journalist before the time is right. I don't blame the UCI for this.

That said, I don't believe in this ridiculous conspiracy.

Indeed, you cannot expect him to blab beforehand. It was odd still, and I have the impression that he knew he was doing something bad.

Maybe he was at the point where he was about to say no to Daddy... but in the end he caved, as usual. He may still think he has no choice.

No.

The last thing they want is for Contador to spend two years reflecting on the sport and suddenly decide to come clean, Landis style, and reveal everything that has been going on at Astana for years.

Bruyneel was quick to offer support to AC and there have been none of the customary wise cracks from Armstrong's twitter.

Probably right. The whole thing just seems so odd. Really out of control for all parties involved. It isn't like other positives where it is simply case closed.

At the end of the day, not all of the cards are on the table. Blood values are the only hint that could clarify.
