If this has been raised somewhere else I apologize but doesn't the delay seem to be intentional. The ultimate goal being that they can't possibly find him guilty because it would be too damaging to the sport. I mean they couldn't possibly find him guilty if it meant erasing the winner of the last two grand tours? right? (assuming he wins 2011 TDF)

It's two already, the 2011 TdF would make it three. And there's a chance for the 2011 Vuelta as well, but that's maybe a bit speculative.

You can't make an accusation like that without evidence. Typical of hiding behind the veil of the internet. Doping is a science - he did it or he didn't, and the INDEPENDENT court will weigh up the pros and cons of the argument for us.

Besides, the matter is now in the hands of the CAS, not the Spanish Federation, not the UCI.

Good point but how independant is CAS Its a Swiss court with its own laws that are different to national laws. And again we all know what is the current situation is Switzerland with many sporting bodies.

I know that a few of CAS arbitrators are not full Judges they may be high flying QC,s but they havnt been apointed to the bench.

I think the problem is that the CAS is set up to deliver fair judgement on a particular sporting issue, they have no responsibility for the sport as a whole. Therefore - the timing of any case will be based on ensuring the integrity of their decision (ie: giving all parties time to collate evidence etc), rather than the impact it has on cycling in general and the 2011 TdF in particular.

It's also a bit unfair to tar the CAS with the same brush as FIFA. Completely different organisations.

I don't really see it as being unreasonable to think such a thing would be possible. Already you have the spectre of Armstrong's positives being hidden and now possibly you have the current GT "king" being exposed as a doper as well. It's just one black eye after another for the sport as a whole. It is only logical that TPTB would want to have "clean" champion to put forth to the public.
Given the extremely long delay compared to other riders positives this would seem to be the only logical explanation.

there are threads on this, but you cant discuss doping or such things in the road forum.

Doping discussion is only allowed in the clinic, which is what Descender was hinting at but he just forgot to put in the information you needed.
