He still is owed a two year suspension for Operation Puerto.

One could argue that, since Contador didn't race the 06 tour because of investigation into Puerto involvement, he has served part of that suspension already. Does Contador's not being allowed to defend his title in 08 because of Vinokourov's positive help settle the score further?

Sure it's nothing like a 2 year ban, but it hasn't been entirely without consequence.

If the UCI was anti-doping and wanted to "help" clean riders these men from Operation Puerto would all be banned for life. Having just 20 guys at 50% and up hematocrit in the race makes the pace so brutal a totall clean rider (no HGH even) would probably just DNF. With just 5 guy blood doped in the race a clean rider might get top 10.

Examining the psychology of his answers indicates he is a doper, which is why he won the tour, which is why he deserves no respect.
By that reasoning, and assuming everyone or nearly everyone in the peloton dopes, none of them deserve respect.

What seems to be at play within the peloton is that as long as you don't dope to the point of failing tests, you're respected. AC seems to be within those limits.

"Examining the psychology of his answers"

I wouldn't examine Contador's answers too carefully because they are translated and a LOT has gotten lost in translation, much to his detremant, some to his advantage. I MUCH prefer to see him speak - he CAN speak English, just doesnt understand it very well and I think he is embarrassed to speak and has gotten burned for having his spoken English words twisted on him.

btw - Lance has said multiple, multiple, multiple times that he has not/does not dope. Haters only listen to what they want to hear. It has not been proven that he has doped - they have been trying to get him out of the sport for 10 years and have not managed to do so. If "they" had anyting of nay realy substance it would have stuck. It has and did not.

Same for Contador - whatever they had on him, if anything, from OP was obviously not enough to ban him or he would have been banned.

I posted the link to Lances 2005 King interview and have checked back further and have yet to find anything.
If there are multiple times he said it than I would appreciate a link or reference to his earliest.

You are right. The standard of proof has not been met, and the presumption of innocence rightfully applies. Contador could end much of this debate once and for all if he only provided his DNA to the Puerto investigators for comparison to the blood that has not yet been linked to a donor. Of course, there may not be a current appetite to dethrone the Spanish hero who vanquished the troublesome American.

Your point on Lance is being debated (endlessly!) on other threads and you will find many people who support your belief in his innocence, and many who are providing evidence against this belief. Again, insufficient evidence to take back the 7 maillots jaune, but don't forget that he did provide urine samples with corticosteroids and synthetic EPO in 1999.
