Armstrong cannot rely on having survived cancer to gain the moral high ground because Contator not only survived brain surgery but has to deal with a chronic illness every day of his life. Armstrong's cancer was a one time deal that has no lingering after-effects. Contador's cerebral cavernoma, a congenital vascular disorder, is chronic and produces long-term effects. furthermore, I guarantee you if Lance had a serious ongoing illness like cerebral cavernoma he would never have won a single tour because he really does not have that much talent. he only has intense focus and evil team director.

Not to argue the overall point, but to suggest that cancer treatment has no sustained physical effects is rich. You just don't know.

For the type of cancer Armstrong had there is no sustained physical effects. If treatment works then you are home free. You can go through the rest of your life like it never happened--well, unless you want to pathetically seek out other people's sympathy by playing the survivor card every chance you get.
