WC are different to GTs itt.

anyway, easy to criticize in hindsight.

I was going to criticize before but got caught up in the action.

As for the TT there are a lot of things to ponder but it seems that Martin will be the big cheese for the next few years.

Tony certainly can't climb but he can time trial. This performance could have competed with cancellara's performance last year. Maybe not Mendrisio.
What happened to fabian? Has he lost weight? Or is he just tired. He doesn't seem like the super Timetrialer he is anymore since the tour.

Revenge of Spartacus Classics 2011:D

he did look a bit smaller yes. maybe he is thinking about liege and the GdL? next years road race will be pretty tough as well and he wants the road race more then the time trial at this stage in his career. time will tell i guess. . .

nelson oliveira 17th not bad for his first pro worlds. ofc he already said he wants to drop weight and learn how to climb so he can become a mediocre domestique instead of a very good time trialists. oh well . . .

He does look like he's lost weight. Too much, apparently.

No Riis juice.

How many times are you going to repeat that? It sounds more stupid each time.

I hope not. He should stay at the same weight as he could still dominate in the cobbles and the TT. It might be a bit of a risk if he goes for those hilly classics, anyway there is Gilbert to deal with. I think his best chance to win the road race is this year, I really hope he does it, he deserves it!

The race ended minutes ago and still no "Is Cancellara's career over??" thread? I'm disappointed. ;)

He should select Boom instead of that stupid Westra!!!! ;)

Apparently you underestimated this guy :D

I said that because Westra was riding around like a sack of potatoes after the Tour.
However, I also said after the Tour of Britain ITT (where westra was 3rd) that I was wrong and Westra deserved to be there. ;)

+1. And for all his talk of not wanting to think about it until after World's, you know it must have hindered his preparation - not that it's an excuse, of course, just a partial explanation.

oh turning this into a "tom boonen hasn't won a monument this year so therefore he is past his prime" type of situation but for canc sounds like a great idea :p

it has nothing to do with form with cancellara, simply he just doesn;t work on his itt as much anymore and with same dedication and motivation, because he's been dominating them for years

Perhaps, but is that just supposition?

I remember him saying he wanted to focus more on the road race, so maybe he hasn't been focusing much on the TT, opting to conserve energy for the RR later on. On the other hand maybe is just tired or frustrated with a lack of results at L-T.

Hopefully this year will make cancellara buck up and work harder. Maybe he still might be able to dominate next year, but not to the extent of 2010.

Congrats Tony Martin. He has shown he's now then man to beat when it comes to the TT. Wiggans will be pleased also I guess he must know he had no chance at gold today.

i 'd rather see canc take some risks with the classics and such then work on his tt again.

IF enhanced performance on the road is the trade-off, it might be worth it - but it's a big if. I think he's maybe lost too much weight, and with it, power. But that would only be advantageous in the big climbs of the GTs, not the classics. And since it won't transform him into a GC rider in most GTs, I question its purpose.
