Huge crowd in Perth for the Ashes opening day (51.5k) and what an eventful days cricket. I squirmed as England crumbled certain that Starc would be man of the day.
I should have been more assured that if the England batsmen struggled so much things were not going to go all Australia's way, Ben Stokes stepped in and we now see honours tied .

Day 2 England's batting was so inconsistent some nice shots could not even cover their crumble , Oz batting was superb . Humiliation for England the 5 day test match over in 2.

Sadly I did not have the heart to mention tests 2 and 3, more England failing Ashes lost and little for the barmy army to sing about. I continue to respect the English players they just found themselves up against a good Australian team on fine form.
So here we are test 4 and I was hoping for better from England! MCG was a tricky wicket and the English bowlers delivered well giving early reason for false optimism , of course if Australian batsmen faltered England would crumble once more.

Day 2 and we're already into the 2nd innings, I was brought up in an era where 5days often did not seem long enough to achieve a result.
