He'll do nothing the whole of July, riding around looking like he wants to be at the beach, and then show up in thermonucler form to some small belge races in September to rob hardworking guys like Milan fretin and Louis barr3 of an honest win

The only other time he's done a proper prep race for a Tour participation (2021) he was flying in the first week. In 2022 and 2024 it was his first race back after his classics block or the Giro, and in 2023 he had a few race days in Belgium, then used the Tour as interval training for his Worlds ride (which is probably his best ever day on a bike).
