Vingegaard looked slightly worse than what you would hope for/expect at this stage, just 20s ahead of Lipowitz who wasted a lot with his useless attack and also entered the last time in *** position is not a great performance.
But even if he were better, it would still be something like 30 seconds behind Pogacar who looked unbeatable today. Doesn't bode well for the Tour...
Yawn, at least we had the Giro.
Vingegaard also entered the last climb in a terrible position, directly ahead of Lipowitz by the way. Might have been a factor in being dropped

I watched the highlights as missed some of the stage

The fact the Vinge was dropped so quickly tells me his (racing) form is not good. I think he could always match Pog acceleration in these types of stages and he could in first stages of Tour last year. I still think its lack of racing. Whether he beats Pog or not in the Tour who knows but I think he can be alot better . Then I think he was trying so hard to close the gap he blew a bit.

Remco was dropped by Tim Wells ? Maybe being in yellow got to him or the crash as he should have done alot better too

Bardet giving Remco his bottle today. Bardet standing with Remco after his crash yesterday. Bardet pulling Remco with what he had left in the legs in col de la Couillole in last TDF. Bardet watering Remco like a green plant in the Vuelta 2023 14th stage...

Not only will Remco miss two teammates in next Tour de France, he will also miss a discreet guardian angel.

I realise I might cry after sunday's stage.

Bardet: a class act.

The whole stage you could see that Pogi wanted to fight back today after the defeat in the time trial. His team always took responsibility. Even on the penultimate climb when Lipo attacked. Visma had a lot more helpers there.

But we mustn't forget that it's the Dauphine. The riders shouldn't be in top form yet. Apart from Lipowitz, the others have the Tour as a highlight.

But what is noticeable is that Remco seems nervous when things aren't going well. In the end, he didn't lose that much, except to Pogi.

Yeah, I have no doubt that Vingo will be significantly better at the Tour. I don't see how not racing since March could not affect him. Like Van der Poel said about yesterday's stage, it's impossible to replicate those kinds of efforts in training. You need racing miles for that. Nevertheless, I was very surprised at today's outcome. I was happy with the outcome, not going to lie about that.

So what for tomorrow? The queen stage, classical Alpine struggle. I actually think Visma-LAB will try to detonate the race and eliminate other teams helpers on the penultimate climb. They have nothing to lose if they want to win the race. Then Vingo will have a go on the last climb hoping his main rival is weaker than today. Obviously Pogacar's legs will have a lot to say and he may counter Vingo at some point and win alone again. Should be interesting.

My prediction that Remco would put on a brave face and overcome crashing, maybe stay up there on day old adrenaline was wrong. That fact that he really couldn't answer anyone, most just left after one or 2 medium efforts. He wanted a measurement, it's still ok but his ride today has to beat real downer..see if he bounces back. Lots of guys are likely worried that Pogacar dropped all without getting out of the saddle almost at all, and he just rode everyone off his wheel, super impressive and huge confidence booster. Lipowitz excellent outing today..
Tadej has used the same seated, spinning technique in several races. Getting out of the saddle isn't efficient for a long, even climb.
Remco is still building form. Take Tadej out of the picture and he lost alot of time to Jonas but not too many other people. Same as last year.

Not true, since he did worse than on marie blanque in the Tour 2023.

Nevertheless, he is not in a horrible shape. He is missing some racing to get those final hard miles van der poel talked.
Jonas going for the extraordinarily risky post-2019 Chris Froome buildup to the tour.

Though he's not in top form, he did those watts for 40 minutes in the tour last year, I don't think Pogacar is in his best shape either strange as it sounds.

Much like Alpine in F1, Visma will also be lacking speed.

I think everyone rides in and saves it for the tour. They are at risk of burning too many kj with the condition they’re in trying to knock some off of pogi. This race is over for all of them

I also don't think any of them is in top shape, but one of them can be more closer from top shape than the other.

In terms of 20 min effort, did worse than on marie blanque Tour 2023, and did today a similar perfomance to what he did on LPDBF Tour France 2022.

If you do numbers of 2022 and 2023 you will get beaten by pogacar, and be the second best with a small gap to guys like Lipowitz, because everybody is improving the numbers every year.

Nevertheless, i think Vingegaard is still in a good position 1 month before the decisive stages, and he naturally is missing those famous "hard miles" in the end of the stages due to the lack of racing.

Let's see how it goes tomorrow.
