On that race, on where he crashed and DNF, due to the injury, Mathieu raced for GC.

I do think Jonas has more longevity over 3 weeks.

There was a battle of "longevity" going on in the past couple of editions, this Dauphiné on the other hand was different. The usually fatiguing and attrition approach didn't wear down either Pogi or UAE. On top of that Pogi just rode away from Jonas whenever he wanted, that is not something all that usual from the past.

Leaves a lot of room for interpretation. I think when you are as superior as Pogacar at the moment, it's hard to do anything right in that regard. I think that peoples ideas of what "humility" should look like in that kind of position will vary to such a degree that what for one counts as humility, counts as the opposite for the other. Just like with the arrogance thing.

Why shameless? He sprinted, assuming that Pogacar would race for 2nd, when Pogacar made no effort, he didn't continue either, but because of having started to sprint, he had more speed.

Would it have been more dignified to not try to race, allowing Pogacar to accelerate to a clearer 2nd had wanted to? Or to brake and try to drop back to third once Pogacar didn't respond?

Not everything that the rival of your hero does has to be a matter for ridicule.

I thought this prior to 2024 too. Not any more. Last year not only did Pogacar demonstrate exemplary longevity over three weeks but he did that with a Giro in his legs and then went on to win the worlds and GdL.

It’s so long ago now that people forget what Pogacar did in the 2024 Giro. The stage 15 Queen stage at altitude was mind blowing. Looking at the entire 2024 season, Jonas has never shown that even in 2023 when he played loyal teammate to reward Sepp Kuss at the Vuelta.

The dynamic has shifted but it can also shift again. Who knows.

Please explain how anyone was meant to know that Pogacar wouldn't sprint at the end. As soon as he saw that Pogacar wasn't contesting it, Vingegaard stopped sprinting.

Pogacar was riding it out to the finish when he had zero reason to do that and was even helping Vingegaard with the pace. Pogacar never looked back to see if Vingegaard was going to sprint past him. It was less than 100 meters to go when Vingegaard started his sprint, Pogacar almost never waits that late.

Forgive me for thinking that sport is about achieving the best results that one can, and for considering that Vingegaard thought that Pogacar might assume that too.

What part of the entire final climb gave any tiniest indication that Pogacar cared at all what his actual finishing position on the stage was beyond ensuring Jonas got no psychological boost from dropping him.

Why change the historic name of this race?

question I have is, when did Prudhomme get promoted (and why was he promoted) to where he oversees all cycling for ASO
