CRO Race 2024 (Oct.1-Oct.6)

Page 7 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
Headups, everyone.
The race is finishing early today as well. You can watch this, then go watch the Gravel World Championships*, Paris-Tours, and Agostoni.
No need to kick yourself in the arse, or any body parts.

*Coverage starts a bit before this race finishes, so you'll need two screens.
Indeed, it's barely 4:30am where I live and I haven't had my coffee yet, but I'm awake for the final stage of the CRO race and later I'll be watching the Paris-Tours!

While it's a bit early I love waking up to a morning full of cycling. :)

Okay, final stage of the CRO race right now, looks like they're riding through farming country today. Think that might be some kind of wheat fields they're riding past... not many spectators, but the scenery, while pretty flat, is actually kinda nice. Love seeing the old world buildings and architecture, we really don't have architecture like that here in the States.

Anyhoo, 5 riders in the break (I'm not familiar with any of them), peloton about 1:55 behind, 58km to go.

On a side note I have to mention I really enjoyed the race commentary - I'm watching the Aussie SBS stream and it's just been one lady commentator all week. I haven't been able to catch her name but, she's very calm, knowledgeable, and does very well all on her own! Not that I mind the usual Bob Roll and Christian Vande Velde, but it's really refreshing to hear a different voice.

Apparently there's a headwind...

I have to say for such a small race it's been very well staffed, they've ridden past at least two fire trucks on a daily basis and there are plenty of staff on the road giving direction and keeping riders out of trouble, and I already mentioned upthread the camera work has been just fantastic!

Speaking of fire trucks today's Croatian word to learn is vatrogasci, it's written on the fire trucks and it means fire department. (In Czech we say hasiči, so it's very different from the Croatian vatrogasci. Some of our words are similar or the same, others are quite different, but generally speaking as Slavs we should have little trouble communicating. Same goes for the Slovenians - good to know a little Slovenian in cycling these days. :tearsofjoy:)

Anyhoo, about 26km left to go.
