I've been trying to find cross clubs in either of my new home towns (above), but to no avail. I know it's Querfeldein in German and Cyklocross in Slovak, but am not having any luck. I even asked Bernhard Kohl and he didn't know. A long shot, I know, but any of you guys know anything about it in my part of the world?
Hi there, as a Slovak CX fan (although living in Switzerland) I can help you a bit

There are almost no CX-specific clubs in Slovakia ... you need a license to attend almost all of the races (I think there are 15 rounds of Slovak CX cup this year), some of them are open. To get the license you can sign up for any road/mtb club there (most probably in Bratislava if you live somewhere near the SK/AT border, I can give you some names per PM)
Most of the CX racers are just roadies that need something to do in winter, but there are some CX only riders as well (mainly from Podbrezova, Banska Bystrica or Zilina cycling clubs). I don't know if there are any group trainings or something in Bratislava (I would say not...)
I have tried to find some races in Austria when I lived in Bratislava, but no luck ... like the sport didn't even exist there.
Moving here to Switzerland was a revelation for me as a hobby CX racer, with 1-2 races every weekend from mid-September until Christmas, no license needed
