Im interested in the last line on the article. There was a thread on this a few years back, but everyone just ridiculed the op and the theory with sarcastic quips and "i know plenty of cyclists who have babies", comments, which is kind of like saying that smoking isn't bad for your health, because you know smokers without health problems.

I thought it was common knowledge that there is a link. I guess all you can do is find a saddle that really fits you ( I'm on my third right now! hope this one's the charm! ) and also do the obvious things like stand every few minutes for a few seconds etc. It's kind of sad that such a great sport can give you health problems...

When I was young and fit and could actually ride a bike, I had heaps of issues with "genital numbness" - yikes!!!

Back then you had selle italia turbo seats or san marco rolls to choose from and while at a really low weight, and doing really big miles, I could not get these to work for me. I would have numb old fella for several hours after a long ride and trouble p-----g and certainly no shenanigans in the sack.

I reflect that this must have caused some damage. it was at a time where you were told that this was something that you just had to put up with by the other old school guys I rode with.

Funny that when I put on a little weight, I found the rolls to be the most comfortable of the sadles. Low body fat gad the effect of less padding, but also allowed a much lower position putting creating more stress.

Anyway thats enough about me - what do you like doing in your spare time?

Women who bicycle regularly can experience reduced sensations in their pelvic region if their bike’s handlebars are positioned too low, researchers at Yale University discovered.

but the study already provides the answer to the matter so...........
