I wear bibs, often use base layer, vest or jacket when necessary, I don't mind being hot but hate being cold. I have a fairly deep rotation of clothing and sometimes hand wash if something was used a short time but typically use gentle cycling on the machine and line dry everything, almost never use the dryer. Cycling clothes are often washed with other items. Don't have any dedicated drying devices like special clothes line for cycling clothes. Your survey is possibly structured towards people who live in average to above average places with rainfall, my area is arid and bike clothes get wet from sweat about @99% of the time, I also live in an area with uncommonly good weather and riding in rain or wet conditions is done as a last resort. Rainy days are skipped, multiple rainy days , other activities or ride an indoor trainer, which is also a last resort.
Synthetic padding in shorts is easy to wash and care for, no special prep or detergents.. And synthetic materials all dry pretty quickly, usually a few hours, never multiple days, I use a series of different shorts and allow them to dry inside out for multiple days in between uses.
Spring and summer weight clothes dry even faster.. @2-4 hours hanging outside
