How come he wins Dauphine and people open a thread about Guillaume Martin and not him? I feel like I've mentioned too many Martins already.

It looks like he's emerged as a clear leader for TdF at EF now. I'm curious to see if he can handle three weeks of being in contention for GC.

My new favourite thread title.

The last time EF/Garmindalestreamsports won the Dauphine with a madcap last day was 2014. Will we see a similarly crazy TdF this year?

I assumed he already had a thread... but brilliant thread title there!

Strange how the OP was for unknown reasons was down in the dumps after stage two, yet Martinez featured well in every stage - Higuita is getting the CN love but Martinez is a better rider, especially in stage races.

I don't think he's a better rider by any stretch of the imagination.

Impressive how he was able to win despite being outnumbered by BORA in the last 15 kilometers.

That Martinez guy is kind of a winner with a winning instinct, isn't he? To have 4 wins in a shortened season for a climber without the kick of Valverde or Higuita is very impressive.

I think Martinez might have been a podium contender in this year's Tour if he hadn't crashed so badly earlier. Now he has a stage win in the biggest grand tour. Well done.
Dont think so, the level of this Tour is kinda insane. Top 8 was possible, but he can win one more stage for sure

There's not that much between 3rd and 8th so far this Tour.
Would depend on his performance on the echelons really. Landa and Porte have been the 3rd and 4th strongest climbers so far ( and both stronger than Bernal so far in the climbs ) but they are not in the top 5 due to losses in stage 7.

There is really no difference. There is the 2 Slovenians and the rest. Anything else is splitting hairs.
