As did i. They were off all this season but i sincerely expected more from them.

But this isn't about saying how "who's looking weak now, Shacky boys?" or comparing them, it's about the fact that astana isn't a weak team at all, and has never been.

You're right, clearly the people saying that Astana was plenty strong enough have been vindicated, though I think Astana have surpassed most people expectations. Personally I didn't really know many of the Astana riders, but I was in the "Contador could win supported by a crew of rodeo clowns" camp. The fact that he now apparently has the strongest team rather than simply a strong team can't hurt him.

True, but the time loss was down to Andy and Contador, not to Saxo vs. Astana. I think Andy has a much better chance than I thought before this stage, but again not due to his team.

Easily the rider of the day for mine. Navarro and Tiralongo were the double sided hammer that nailed the uniballer. Chapeau!!

There is no surprise in Navarro and Tiralongo, if you follow cycling.
My surprise come from Liquigas domestiques no show (as you would expect some of them hanging on).
Maybe they are resting for the third week considering Basso thinks to peek there, but one would expect more.

Daniel Navarro "I am ready to give as much as I can to my leader Alberto"

Yvon Sanquer said:
We realized that Saxobank wasn?t planning to intervene or later, we decided to take the control, it was part of the reflection of the day, our focus point was the stage victory, the location of the finish was very good today, so all the team members has ridden in front and after the battle started, it is more difficult to reverse. Even if the final result is not exactly what we expected, we saw some interesting things today, which we will learn to reflect and will give us the opportunity to adjust our tactic.

For me, even if there were no stage victory, I am happy about this day, and my dearest wish now is to win the Tour de France Alberto and the team!

Was Daniel referring to stage victory for himself on his birthday, or both of them meant stage victory for Contador?

Aaaanyway, Daniel -- great ride and happy birthday!

navarro was a big climbing talenbt but he has a small engine, jesus hernandez is also a climber with an even smaller engine. meaning when the race hasn't been too hard or long they can pull big time on a climb. but also need to rest up in other stages like they do. navarro's riding is a bit overrated because he rests very flat stage that he loses 15 minutes in.
