Every year is different, even some bigger races have some surprising 'weak' fields every now and then.

The combination of short distance and this long straight in the finale is so bad for attackers.

i like it , now we know the race isnt over immediately when an attack sticks

also means they cant wait for the last lap

Yeah, a race without superheroes is a completely different feeling. Guys looked human, efforts cost them a lot and none could create a decisive gap.

Caja 3 in the top 10 including an Eduard Prades who last year I assumed was dead or something because he's about 60 but came 5th in the same race.

I fear the way this race played out will induce teams to ride for a reduced sprint next year rather than throwing their best riders into long-range attacks, tbh. Especially because the uphill sprint is pretty good for the kind of puncheur that thrives here.

Depends on who shows up. If someone like laporte and a guy from Lotto was added to the breakaway today . i don't think there's enough peloton to come back for the sprint.
