This wasnt any suprise at all tho for anyone who have watched cycling the last few years, noone is close to beeing able to have his power not named Pogacar weve seen that countless of times over the years so no surprise at all!
As long as we knew Pogacar wasnt riding this would always been the outcome baering any accidents.

Congratz what a rider!
I know it hurts but this is spot on. It is sad that there is no competition but if we don't have 2 of the big 3 in the race, MVP was always a massive favourite. I knew MVP would win solo when I saw Vermeesh with Pedersen. Alpecin played perfectly when other teams were sleeping.

Vermeersch was somewhere around ~10th position at best, and only three made it through. They must have stopped for the sausages

Nope, he blocked before, got of his bike and walked in 10th.

So he blocked everyone in like 10th position and lower!!!
Watch replays before reacting, maybe. Vermeersch was halfway, got walkers in front, tried to ride through, slipped himself, blocked for a millisecond, got of and walked around 10th. A lot was going on, Vermeersch just tried his best, I never said he blocked on purpose, just that the slipping of some (like Vermeersch) hampered the chances of all riders behind, and any (very small) chance of a chase within a minute. Now the Koppenberg farce gave mvdp one free minute on everyone but a fading Jorgensen and a “done” pedersen, so mvdp could ride on wattage more than anything, which made life for him much easier. That minute was however a poisonous present as it didn’t gave mdvp any other option than to press on, which was a heroic effort in this weather.

I really like Mozzato and think that a top 10 was in the cards for him .
That said, him finishing 2nd shows that it was a rather unusual race.
I do rate him higher for P-R, Albanese looked like the better Arkea option for this race.
Anyway, Quickstep are really no longer a factor in the cobbled classics nowadays...

Looking back I think everyone knew an early move could be crucial so every team was super focused on getting into the group. But in doing so teams constantly chased down themselves and basically neutralized each other. Then after Pedersen went lots of guys no longer had the strength left to keep getting into a breaks. It's really weird how around the 100km mark the race was extremely active yet around the 50km mark it looked like one of the most controled RVV editions in recent years.

Chapeau to MvdP. I know there is a big focus on how dominant he looked on the Koppenberg but I think his tactical awareness and positioning were actually at least as important. The entire race he always knew precisely when to chase and when to wait, he went into all the crucial climbs perfectly positioned despite hardly ever being positioned by his team and had the strength to pull away on the hardest climb. He easily could have lost his edge by chasing every move in the early phase and with Bettiol's positioning I'm doubting he can go solo this early. All around a masterclass performance.

Maybe everyone could shut up about the guy who wasn't there and just enjoy the race.
Pogacar is the defending champ afterall so naturaly to mention him.

Hes the only one who has showed he can match vdp and even beat him so i see no harm in mentioning him.

Without him this would always bee the result bearing any missfortunes thats hardly any surprise after what weve seen over the last few years.
