Decent bike for under £200

Decent bike for under £200

I need a new bike as mine is on it's last legs now. I have a budget of around £200 (can go slightly higher) and wondered what the best bike to get would be.

I think a hybrid would be best as the roads aren't the best where I live but not sure where to look.

Any suggestions?

Something second had that has either been well looked after (normal consumables) or been bought by someone who thought it was a great idea to get a bike then rode it twice a few years ago.
Ebay is the most obvious but buyer beware as I would always suggest an inspection.
Your location may have an alternate source, is Craiglist in the US, Gumtree or bikeexchange in Aus, not sure about UK

We have Gumtree here in the UK and Ireland too. Or the old fashioned news paper classified adds
