He was not attacking Romo, and Romo was not wearing blue: those were the two elements of your post that I contested.
What previous attempts had been made to put any IPT rider in danger during a race because of that team, and what evidence is there that Gee was targeted such that he, and only he, needed to leave the team as a matter of urgency?
I would try to avoid language that you normally gets people banned but 4,5 months after Gaza bombings and UN declared Israel was out of bounds, hundreds of Israeli owned and operated, anything flagged by Israel were targeted for protests and much, much worse. Without saying each name a media presence, multiple people associated with Israel Premier Tech have taken to social media to voice support for Israeli actions. As I wrote in a veiled post before, Benjamin Netanyahu has sent multiple social media posts in praise of the team and riders, for years. Most recently he sent tweets saying that team continuing had some components of statehood and patriotism, the bike team was a representative of Israel and he went on to cheer that team didn't succumb to terrorist threats.
I will accept your physical description difference.. Romo was incidentally knocked down as a man charged the group. Javier Romo was injured so seriously that he couldn't continue racing. I am unaware of an alternate color scheme for Israel Premier Tech and Movistar..both teams have blue used as a primary kit color . Romo indeed had blue elements to his cycling kit. And as I said before there is no polite or gentle way to charge into a group of racing bicycles on foot.
And as I said before, it's certainly subjective, I personally respect threats made on social media against Israeli citizens or employees of Israeli based businesses or other interests that have significant Israeli investment. And as I said before, UCI, race organizers, law enforcement all said publicly that they increased police presence on the race route, they increased security at hotels and around all teams, but with increased emphasis on Israel Premier Tech, adding additional motorcycles and vehicles around riders and their support caravan. Depending on your point of view it was or wasn't successful. People ran on the race route repeatedly and made threats of disruption as season started including at Vuelta..
Giro and TDF didn't have people physically involved to same extent that played out a Vuelta.
And as I said, my opinion is if you have @10,000 threats to choose from, which were investigated? Which were credible? Which were just people venting or beer texting?
The danger to Gee and others is that team owner is tweeting things that are provocative to millions. Gee was in danger just from association. Too many examples of things going off the rails under similar circumstances over similar subject matter,

Similar language, similar subjects including athletes.
So the difference is what?
The outcome.
The number of people making threats to Israel Premier Tech since Gaza conflict started has been immediate, growing and more widespread. None of this is my opinion, on the contrary, just statistical probability of number of threats and how many are ultimately acted out on.
Gee did the right thing for himself and his family, friends on many levels.
One thing he didn't do, because it was apparently impossible is to use plain language to say that he found team ownership, team ethos to conflict with his personal beliefs. I have not seen an athlete quit and when asked why, the ownership and team mission is immoral in their opinion.
If you would permit I can certainly post social media from people in Israeli government officials, including Netanyahu others in Likud and others right who use encouraging words towards Israel Premier Tech.
Gee himself boiled it down, differences with team ownership, different personal beliefs and safety. Gee didn't race in the Vuelta, didn't race after Giro ...his safety concerns were pre- Vuelta.
This is a no win situation for all involved including you and me, Gee and everyone else.
Bike racing's bizarre association with a war, but it's been done and because of the association the team has been dissolved, Israel Premier Tech has been restricted from racing . I don't know how bike racing was associated with Gaza, it happened, and we will all see in the future how it all shakes out.
So, if you are in charge of a WT team, would you sign Gee with all the uncertainty about his status?
No. Gee should simply accumulate the social media for example of people in Israeli government for example and the back and forth of Israel Premier Tech ownership and others involved with the team. And cycling news showing again today, the almost instantaneous nature of the dangers of social media and bike racing, racers, here's another example of danger that developers from something like an icon used in a post. And here's an example of what happened.. From governing bodies.
