Trying to see who went down in that crash (I saw a qs rider I think) but discovery+ won't allow me to watch those races again for some reason. (Eurosport player was so much better!)

Watching it again (discovery plus now allowed my watching it) it almost seems as multiple simultaneous crashes? Or it's just riders falling in both sides of the road.

I see a QS rider to the right in front of the crash or even inside it (cannot tell). It has to be either Almeida or Cavendish. I was guessing the later as the rider in question goes extremely low on his bike to catch the peleton.

He had really bad Covid-infection and couldn't practice for two weeks.

Really bad covid Infection= "sick for 3/4 days"?

He was roommate of Simon Geschke at the Olympics who tested before the positive before the RR despite being vaccinated. After a negative test Buchmann was cleared to race though...

Seems like a season to forget for Buchmann, just like last year.

Today could be a day for a break. Thee climb at the star is quite hard, a real second category climb. Strong people getting time there would be very difficult to catch in a hilly stage as this one.

First break before the climb

12:47:47 | 13 km
Die neun Fahrer in der Spitzengruppe: Henri Uhlig (GER), Philipp Walsleben (AFC), Bert de Backer (BBK), Alex Colman (SVB), Marti Marquez (EKP), Stephen Bassett (RLY), Sven Thurau (TDA), Pierre-Pascal Keup (LKH) und Michel Aschenbrenner (PUS).

But I think in the climb will be another break.
