Interesting concept... have each of your team pocket a jammer and enable those at strategic times... pull a 2010 Contador vs Schleck shift/chain jam move on demand. ;)

Easily discoverable too. Any device powerful enough to Jam an electronic device that has no intentional radio components would be heavy and large.
It would also effect a motorcycle, car, other radios, TV cameras, all other DI2 riders, etc.

Reminds me of a story I heard about a few years ago where some Air Force technicians took the radar jammer off of an F-16 and used it to open garage doors for break-ins.

On a wired system, like Di2, the 'jammer' would have to be the size of a truck, if it worked at all. Why many secure electronic type devices are hard wired. Plus the EMP from the 'jammer' would probably cook the guy operating it.

A bit unlikely

I could be wrong (I'm not an EE), but my strong suspicion would be that anything powerful enough to take out Di2 systems would run the risk of also taking out a whole bunch of other things, such the official cars and motorcycles, throwing the race into complete chaos.

other than EMP...

I think he's talking about hovering a radio-controlled helicopter with little robotic arms in front of the jammee and manipulating the shift buttons...:p

EMI and RFI can both work to create interference, but it a momentary pulse was created that powerful the rider would also fall off the bike. They passed a regulation in the US outlawing bars and cafes from jamming cell phone signals, easy and cheap to do.

That jams the signal getting to the phone it doesn't stop the phone from functioning. Example the phone would still work if all you wanted to do was listen to music and you plugged in some ear phones. the reason it would have to be large for the DI2 is because it is hard wired and it would require huge amounts of energy to stop the electrical impulses or basically fry the electrical components.

Who ever told you the story was pulling your leg.

This. You'd basically have to HERF it, which would more likely than not just blow out the electronics instead of jamming them - along with everyone else in the peloton using Di2, plus probably everyone's radios and possibly the motorbikes/cars of race officials and support. ;)

I was just posting the size of what a jammer (any jammer) would be.

Here's the best Di2 Jammer ever made:

You could opt for the laser cutter but if you miss you might injure the rider.

While it is possible that an Air Force jammer could open a garage door, it is not likely that it would open at the whim of some thief. Garage door openers work in the 300-400 mhz range and there are military systems that jam those frequecies, but thats what they do...jam. Not open. Jammers basically "confuse" the receiver into seeing a different signature. With that said, some of those Air Force folks can be pretty darn smart....

Besides, it'd be waaay easier to knock them off the bike...think Karpets vs Contador. LOL:D;)

about cell phone jammer

Most jammers have about a ten foot range, and are only going to serve to shut down the self-important blabbermouth who is rudely forcing himself into your personal space with his all too personal conversation. The jammers people are going to keep in their pocket or purse have a very limited range, and aren't going to shut down the city block. These claims are just scare tactics. They are made to take back peace and quiet in your personal space. As a side note there are ones that shut down city blocks, and our government uses them, to protect the president, and for other things. They don't exactly fit in your purse either. Real emergency workers use powerful two way radios that will not be affected. Doctors dealing with emergencies are in the emergency room. If someone needs emergency help he isn't going to be calling his doctor who is currently in the restaurant next to you and your cell phone jammer. He is going to call 911, or the emergency room, or the fire department.
