yes if you followed the race. ;)

I have followed the race. Please enlighten me as to what any of those teams did.

You've gone down the use internet route of dismissing a post without providing contrary evidence.

No we haven't missed the Shack. And as a Sky fan, I'll say that we haven't really missed them either.

But on the flip side, have we noticed Rabobank, Lampre, Milram, Footon, BBox or Astana?

Dominik Roels has been in the break more often than anybody in the race. Johnnie Walker has become a cult hero, and the inexplicable cameraman's favourite (a bit like Yannick Talabardon in 2008).

Lampre: Bole was up there in the stages that suited him. Kashechkin did about as well as could be expected but he was pretty invisible.
Rabobank: got in a few breaks?
Milram: Roels and Terpstra were everywhere. I'm not sure they brought anyone else.
Footon: JOHNNIE WALKER. And a 3rd for Cardoso. Not much.
BBox: a couple of good stages by Tschopp.
Astana: some silly moves by Fofonov and Davis climbing like Pantani.

So yeah I guess that's exactly what you were getting at.

And is that it for six teams? A breakaway man and a guy who gets attention because he has the same name as a whiskey?

I'm not defending Radioshack. I'm just pointing out that there are plenty of teams who are there, and have been missed

Lampre also won a stage - stage 7 with Petacchi. Robert Förster placed in a few sprints but not too well. Manuel Cardoso got a couple of top 5s.

Rabobank paced the péloton all day en route to Pal only for Menchov to get dropped early.

I knew I'd make a mistake. Scratch Lampre from my list.

But the rest....

Surely Horner and Brajkovic could have done something.

I agree with the decision to exclude RS, due to the current allegations. But given the chance, they would have done OK

I don't understand what the bold part means.

I meant all those teams have featured in the race, sent riders in breaks, some even placed riders in the top 10 in the sprints.

I was gutted when Sky pulled out, too, for a very good reason, but the race was great even without RS.

Oh right, completely forgot about Petacchi. Clearly I'm not CONI material.

What I meant is - you said not 'if I'd followed the race'. But you didn't state which bits of the race I have missed which make my statement irrelevant.

I'm quite happy to be shown wrong, as LS has shown with regards to Lampre.

However, you have fallen into the usual internet trap of dismissing a comment without stating why it is wrong.

If I were to call you an idiot, I would back it up with evidence to show that. But I haven't got that evidence, so I will not call you an idiot.

Well, I guess you are an idiot then. ;)

I didn't miss them but they might have brought some riders I would have enjoyed. I did miss Vacansoleil.

Kinda noticed Petacchi winning stage 7 too. Edit: Oh, nevermind - didn't read the top of the page.

Andalucia-Cajasur were pretty disappointing too. Even though their team is pretty weak, I only remember one of their guys in the break once (seriously).

Yeah, but they're a pro-conti team! That's what they're there for, is only to put riders in breaks, not to put a guy or two in the top te...oh wait a second :D

They were in quite a few breaks, probably most of the breaks in the first week and in a few other breaks the other weeks, often even with two riders

Quite honestly, this topic just reminded me they were excluded for the first time in over three weeks.

Says everything from my point of view

This is what I think plus I missed Vaconsolei, they did really well in the Tour of Britain.

It depends if your name is Johan Bruyneel or not. We missed them just like we missed them at the Giro.

I haven't even thought about them when watching vuelta. And on this last day I especially don't miss them. We can trust that all teams will behave appropriately when the winners are celebrated.

+1 Andalucia were very noticeable for being in the breaks, although less so in the latter half. For the first week, it felt as though every break had at least one of them in it. Edit: and they are in the break on the last stage.

Anyway - it isn't as though the decision to not invite RS is bad simply because they wouldn't have been the worse team in the race, so finding teams that didn't win much doesn't prove a lot. Andalucia don't have a lot of strength, but showed a lot of respect for the race.

Ah ok then. Maybe I didn't see them because I only watched the last 10km or so of the flat stages.

He is the real thing. Spanish TV were interviewing him earlier.. he's become a celebrity but he can back it up because he seems to have some horsepower in the final 3 k so hopefully he can pick up another contract for next year somewhere.

Yes, I missed them, and it was really enjoyable not to have the name 'Armstrong' mentioned within the first minute that the race was broadcast every day.

I didn't miss them but undoubtedly they would have provided more excitement than some of the teams that were there.

What I really didn't miss was the arguments between the RS haters and lovers.
